Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 7hLittle wonder with low sales & the looming shadow of the Amiga the C128 never really saw the game upgrades we've seen on the likes of the CPC 128K or Speccy! Feels like the C64 mode was considered its "game mode", when it wasn't being a "serious" machine for business apps etc.🤔 100
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 7hJust watched the C128 playthrough on YouTube...bit more colourful! In the limited bits of jargon & (urgh), A.I. overview, was shocked to see how the VIC II & SID chips weren't readily accessible to the 2mhz cpu mode without lots of trickery from devs!🤯 -> 100
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 9hBrings to mind something like Friday the 13th with some so-so backgrounds & sprites but somehow can be strangely time consuming & putting in more time to play it than you expect! Used to get freaked out avoiding getting zapped or knocked down by the motorbike though!🤯😅 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Guess it needed more bonus rounds...like treating all the stings, venom before you kicked the bucket,or washing all the goo & blood off your hands!🤯😂 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 08/10/2026And we wonder how we got to streaming music/movies & games (or always online ones which can have the pin pulled whenever the publisher feels like it)?!🙄 Nevermind allowing them to dictate what is or isn't accessible.😑😕 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 07/10/2026The only negatives being waggling events aren't the easiest on gamepads/emulation & guessing what the controls are for certain events going in cold on it without instructions but all part of the fun!😅 The cliff diving mishaps still make me laugh & shudder all at the same time!🤯😂 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 07/10/2026That Friday the 13th intro screen would have me jumping almost everytime...granted, partially to turn the TV volume down, but a definite jump scare in-game if you weren't ready for it!😅 010
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Was (& still have it), my first ps1 purchase as...Bust a Move 2 for some reason!🤔😅 Quite the amazeballs effort squeezing it onto a humble C64, but from bits I'd seen online, it keeps up traditions well.👍 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 02/10/2026For all the cheesy dialogue, was ALWAYS suspicious of Wesker's continued absences compared to the other STARS members, in the mansion...not to mention the bags of atmosphere not knowing what was around a corner, or spooky music like playing the piano, even before the puppies smashing into the hall! 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Given what @gamesthatwerent.com only recently unearthed on the keen ambitions the creator wanted to do, would be lovely if this comes out of the creative oven someday!!🤓 020
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 02/10/2026In that case, think the distribution chain wanted TMNT out asap on a format here already considered "dying" in the face of some Amiga, growing PC, & console like Master System or Megadrive/SNES! 🤔 Bit like Kung Fu Master, when you hear the tune in NTSC vs PAL, you noticed the difference overall!🤯 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 02/10/2026As a general rule we did, especially later games, given we were PAL too!🤔 But earlier days we'd see U.S. stuff, & with disk drives more common in packs, tended to see disk versions over tape late 80's to early 90's whether like a Microprose or Origin U.S. release or UK stuff! 120
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Heard the UK port apparently was a little less buggy than the disk intensive U.S. version I'd unfortunately got down under! Got stuck on the same darn jump I think infamously was featured in the Angry Video Game Nerd feature of the NES original! Either way, got stuck & gave up!🤯😱😅 120
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Want to chromecast it on a TV? Great, let's make sure they're 90 secs plus adverts too!🤯😤 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Missed opportunity to advertise how DMA used to "hit the hardware" so hard with their games it blew the sign off!😋 010
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 27/09/2026"You hear the bath tub taps running nearby to the bedroom, what do you do?" "GO bathroom" "Stripes says,do you mind, I'm having a bath & multiplying!" His gang have snuck up behind you & you are overwhelmed!" THE END!🤯😱 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Personally preferred the original Rayman legends art style but given some of those lead team members left & went on to make the likes of Unruly Heroes as an indie team new crews tend to do things differently...there's been a few remakes from Japan where "pixel art",feels like a lost artform.😕 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Can't really better any of these wonderful posts, just recall my introduction to sites like the EAB forum,Back to the Roots for some Amiga stuff, Arnold C64, apps like Real Player & Winamp,ICQ etc. 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Must admit never played the Ishar games even to this day (yet),even though they looked pretty in the reviews BITD...but did play a demo of a game they published called (I think?),Boston Bomb Club. Overhead view puzzle game where you had tracks to alter (& CPU interfere!),fuse lit bombs to a bucket! 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 22/09/2026In the absence of the promising looking Bomb Jack DX disappearing from existence, still the only one apart from other later efforts like Mighty Bombjack. Oh well,at least the soundtrack is great & there's Beer Edition on Amiga! 010
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Well they apparently already had that overhead driving bit in development, though I'm glad they dropped fuel/other traffic on the C64 even if it made it a little easier & samey...would've driven me mad seeing the other ports!🤔😅 100
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 20/09/2026It lacked the lightning reactions of classic arcade Pac Man, but was visually very pleasing on C64 & Amiga, nailed the cartoon like visuals & yep the jump function could save you more than once so long as the ghosties weren't lined up!😁 111
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 18/09/2026How dare I try & impose a fresh clearer feed of power!!🙄 Been in pieces since...want to try build a new retrobox some day with new parts & what little bits I can reuse like hard drives & DVD burner but prices so ridiculous thanks to Big tech price gouging & constraining supplies!😤 011
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Ugh...know that pain...wanted to give my old 2010 PC a bit of a boost, managed to get a better CPU & extra ddr 3 or whatsuch...thought I'd give it a clean, new PSU as opposed to the older one that'd been through the odd power blackout & brownouts etc., & it was all too much!🤯 -> 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Yep,that's the one I was talking about! Okay, like Sonic,a bit of cheating with extra RAM etc., but noone quibbles when some of those CPC 128K remakes of Pinball Dreams or Renegade & others, so right up there with when it looked as remarkable on Amiga floppy years ago!👍 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Obviously somewhat removed from the arcade original but a brave attempt to capture it with maybe a smidgen more gameplay beneath so-so visuals...who'd guess someone could get a more visually accurate one with the REU/C64 Ultimate extra memory all these years later! 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Maybe the "curse" was the waste of money buying it or the disk space wasted that could be used for a better game classic!😋😁 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Oh the ironies of Elite getting mad & using legal threats when there was the likes of Who Dares Wins, but funny when they did a knock off it was okay & what's the big deal?!🙄😂 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Playing from Amiga floppy, but even later on PC, remains among my favourites among the series. Loved the puzzles,as crazy as they were. 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 31/08/2026Ah, I see you're a veteran of the dodgy fire button,or "you gotta push a tad harder on that stick Been playing Combat School on it!", spare joysticks routine!😋😂 010
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 31/08/2026They were following in the footsteps of the likes of Monkey Island 2,Darkseed etc. using painted/drawn backdrops... would've been a tricky feat by then to do an Amiga game like that on a far smaller budget & market. 🤔 But credit they were trying! 010
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Whether the likes of Ironhide, Captain Newley, Eeyore & of course Optimus Prime among far too many other characters brought to life by him, thank you for the many happy & unforgettable memories Mr Cullen, RIP.😔🙏🌈static.klipy.comEeyore's Thanks For Caring PoutALT: Eeyore's Thanks For Caring Pout 010
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 27/08/2026🤣 Oh yes, many deaths in Stifflip! But the combat sequence could be so maddening! The smack the baddies in the knadgers only got you so far...but trying to aim on a gamepad on emulation just beyond possible so haven't been able to play it for years! I won't begrudge cheating on Cauldron either!😂 120
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 27/08/2026But with instructions & lift out poster on the 4 characters you could swap between, with icons & comic strip style mono gfx. Had to be quick selecting commands sometimes like passing a reed to each other & breathe thru it in quicksand! Though not really playable for combat on a joypad & emulator! 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Had to watch AL82's playthroughs just to believe there were endings to Cauldron & Cauldron II!🤯😅 Always was a lot of boing, boing, SPLAT!! And witches laughing, & getting lost! Not perfect, (& don't think I fully beat it either),was a Palace adventure game called Stifflip & co. Got it 2nd hand-> 220
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 24/08/2026Could never get fully comfortable usually crashed out after the first few levels, especially with those butterfly things nm pushing the wrong boulder!🤯😅 But much like a lode runner or Super Pipeline you can't help but try again! 120
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Loved seeing the story behind Batman the Movie! Whilst I loved the easier C64 version & SID tunes, the Amiga one did a great job separating itself from the 8bit versions even if the angle fire of baddies on the platforms was totally unfair!😋 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 22/08/2026Meantime in the previous video you finally got your questions answered of who did the other Chase H.Q. ports on C64,ST/Amiga! youtu.be/TAHzMPcKpyE?...youtu.beChase H.Q. - C64 vs Amstrad: The Port DisasterYouTube video by Will Harbison 211
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 22/08/2026In this day & age I sadly usually just screen random callers as scammers never leave a msg outside of robocalls...but I always laugh at the "Visa Mastercard Security department!"😂 010
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Feels like an impossible game, but will be almost as joyful hearing a SID Monkey Island tune as Chris Huelsbeck's Amiga version BITD! 031
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026School buddy that owned it managed a handful of times to start the viscious journey back the other way,I'd do well to hit the 2nd level!🤯🤣 Would've broken me to see the apparent glitch going back "home" where a red cross is apparently impossible to jump to, (got fixed in a cracked version). 000
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Food advisory: Warning! Product may contain traces of food!🤪🤣😱 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026The text parser would speed up with every death,& risk of death being around your former self! Nevermind limited ammo to take out bandits, snakes etc. Never came close to working out what I needed to do!😂 110
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Must admit haven't had the pleasure of this or was it called Law of the West as the best of these sorta games?🤔 Played a bit of Train Robber but that was an exercise in patience!😤😅 Oh & a text adventure game called W.E.S.T.,where if you died you had to retrieve your bits from your Dead self!🤯🤣 210
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Oh yes,can be a factor look at C64 Karateka (esp., as a PAL player in my case)! But the homebrew port of C64 Prince of Persia is a good example of things done right! Choplifter, Impossible Mission, California Games etc.,they all remained playable whether PAL/NTSC etc.👍 200
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Anyway,long story short, I loved what UK or EU devs brought to C64 & Amiga gameswise whether, a Creatures, Turrican 1 & 2, Myth, or 16bit stuff like Cannon Fodder, Rainbow Islands,Pang, & certain cross platform releases just as much as some of the early stuff like Lode runner, Summer Games etc. 100
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026It was a rarity wherein the likes of U.S. Cinemaware used the Amiga as the lead development platform. The likes of Sierra would treat Amiga players as an afterthought with poorly optimised PC ports but tbf, PC sales was their priority. Think microprose leaned on UK devs for conversions later on! 210
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Amiga owners needed something than the bog standard A1200, with Ali/Gould's stupidity on R&D coming back to bite them running CBM into the ground.🙄 Simply said, the U.S Amiga market didn't feature much on most devs/publishers radar to necessarily test PAL games always working on NTSC I suspect.-> 210
Muzza @jamespond47.bsky.social · 21/08/2026Personally, (& being in a PAL zone Down Under before digital),I loved the extended lifespan EU devs gave to both C64/Amiga, given the failings of U.S. CBM burning retail sales bridges,& leaving the Amiga as a largely niche machine unless for Desktop Video like Newtek etc. Albeit by the end ->.. 110
