In every developed EV market, statistics show that ICE cars, which run on a flammable fluid which they actively catch on fire on purpose thousands of times per minute, are more prone to fires than batteries. It also stands to reason that this is the case. Sentences like yours are malpractice. Fix it

@joeonhere.bsky.social What is this nonsense sentence? "At this point, it’s a pretty well known fact that electric vehicles ... have a nagging habit of erupting into flames," and from someone who claims to be a futurist? EVs are more fire safe. *That* is a well-known fact. Your sentence is disinfo.

I think denial has mostly moved past “belief” and now focuses on casting doubt about causes/solutions, or claiming solutions will cost too much. But many aren’t up to date on the new denial/don’t have the capacity for nuance, so they say the “don’t believe” line just to move past the conversation.

Driver has FSD on, decides to turn it off, either cause it's doing something weird or because they're nearing destination. Driver presses pedal, car doesn't stop. Driver presses pedal harder, panics, keeps pressing pedal, wondering why car won't stop. Very common story.

In discussions over whether it's "fair" that China subsidized the EV industry (~$200B), saving lives and leading it to dominate the global car market, one should spare a moment to think whether it would have been more appropriate for China to spend $300B on losing a three month war of choice instead

Attempts to balance the entire Highway Trust Fund on the back of EVs is not "making them pay their fair share," it's yet another giveaway to the dirty cars that are killing you. But since EVs are only 2% of the install base, it's politically convenient to target them.

EU reducing its EV targets is a dumb idea, no matter how minor the change. Automakers are celebrating this and media is calling it a win for them, but it is in fact a loss: all it does is ensure China will be more dominant in the inevitable move towards electrification.

I'm so tired of reading these false headlines for 2 years now. 2 new lies from Nikkei Asia this week (re: Toyota/Subaru pausing EV plans due to "slowing demand," when demand is in fact still rising) broke the camel's back, so I rewrote this article, once again, in the hope they'll all stop lying.

Tesla, a company that doesn't buy ads, is paying for ads to shill a $1T award for its bad CEO. Some ads attach his award to Tesla employees' ability to own a home, or host a quinceañera for their daughter. The last seems particularly exploitative, given Musk's constant white supremacist statements.

@hurwitz.bsky.social A correction for your recent ebike article. EV brakes do not "produce more microplastic," because EVs barely use their brakes. In fact, EVs produce far less total tire and brake dust than gas cars do (slightly more tire, much less brake - and brake is more dangerous than tire)
