Story time! Six years ago, my first book, The End of Everything (Astrophysically Speaking), came out. It was fun to write! I got to share all my cosmology fun facts and dig deep into all the ways the universe might end. I had SO much fun with it, I thought, "maybe I should write another book?" 1/?

And it doesn't work if you have to move between pdf and pptx, absolutely amazing. Acrobat just deletes the invisible object and transfers the hyperlink back to the text it's over. INCREDIBLE level of garbage in these programs.

Screenshot of the official Microsoft knowledge article on removing underlines from hyperlink text, which suggests removing the hyperlink, creating an invisible box over the text, then adding the hyperlink back to the invisible box.

Microsoft and Adobe make garbage products, and now I'm stuck having to go back to Powerpoint and Acrobat. You can't toggle off the underline on hyperlinked text in Powerpoint- the official MS solution is to put a separate invisible object over the text and assign the hyperlink to that! Come on!

For example I would switch between the 80s and 90s channels, then the ones for grunge and heavy metal. I think k there's a channel just for Elvis presley

You should have to change the car stereo specifically from your iphone to the radio function that receives Sirius xm channels. And from there you can browse them. They have a lot! Basically a channel for each decade, and channels devoted to genres and even bands

Then it is definitely weird, I don't know how that would happen. SiriusXM functions just like regular radio stations, FYI. The content is programmed and broadcast, it's not tailored to the user. Fun to explore but i didn't find it worth keeping after the 3 months.

Are you playing music from a library of files stored on your phone, or are you streaming through the phone, with something like spotify?
100
James Lister, Ph.D. @jameslister.bsky.social · 06/08/2026
Sirius is broadcast by satellite, your phone is either over Bluetooth or USB. Basically 2 separate sources for the audio. In my experience car stereos don't flip between sources on their own, you have to choose the source.
