During our football draft this year someone started dumping each team’s completed roster into ChatGPT. Of the first/only 5 we got through it gave modestly accurate text summaries of each team’s strengths and deficiencies and then scored every single one as an A- 🤷‍♂️

Like there are many parts of LotR where the CGI doesn’t look “great” per se but all those shots have a very distinct and **memorable** look and feel that is completely abandoned in The Hobbit movies in favor of standard Marvel-style blandness.

Its biggest mistake was cutting a bunch of corners that the LotR movies very notably did not cut which then instantly doomed it to never being able to live up to the expectations those movies set, which was a bar that was going to be all but impossible to meet anyways.

It gets lost in screenshot form but that line graphic was moving FAST and that entire segment shown is probably like a tenth of a second. Screenshot is of immediately before passing the Croatian, hence the bump position.

There is a sensor in the ball, the bump on the line here is the indicator that something made contact with the ball. It sucks it was waved off but it’s pretty conclusive.

The thing that drives me absolutely insane about this article is that it goes through a whole litany of reasonable sounding platitudes they’re saying now to sell it and it’s not until paragraph 22 of 28 that they deem it pertinent to mention what he actually believes.

Like sure they are not technically assisting in removal operations but they are very much assisting ICE’s ability to do removal operations, and the only protection happening is protecting ICE from civilians doing their duty to disrupt kidnappings.

To clarify, when I say “crowd control” I mean surrounding ICE/CBP during large incidents to set a perimeter for them and then beating up and arresting protesters, often while visibly coordinating with the feds on site. Something consistently seen on video and with my own eyes in Chicago/Broadview

I also think most people who believe local cops are probably speaking genuinely rather than just spouting nihilism. As a Chicagoan I spent day after day this past fall watching firsthand CPD and ISP working as muscle for CBP on the scene of incidents.

I love to show up every day for my job, which is standing around holding the front of my tactical vest and getting told to choke to death by thousands of passers-by while 11 of my coworkers handcuff a roofer on his way to work. Every night I drive 80 minutes home, thinking about nothing at all.
