James Cooper @jamescoopergames.bsky.social · 23/09/2026The Xbox restructuring may seem nonsensical, but venting at big corps isn't worth your time. For them, it's not personal. Better to spend that energy looking after the friends and colleagues we spend our working lives with. Hoping the displaced talent flows into smaller studios and feels valued. 010
James Cooper @jamescoopergames.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Reflecting on Time Capsule today, one (maybe obvious) lesson was that AAA design sensibilities apply just as much to small-scale projects as they do to big blockbusters. Whatever your opinion on the current state of AAA, good design is good design. I'll share more learnings over the next few weeks. 000
James Cooper @jamescoopergames.bsky.social · 20/09/20265 years ago this month, @patrickmullen.bsky.social and I picked up an Emmy for our work on For All Mankind: Time Capsule - not something I ever expected in a career as a game designer. Great to see the Television Academy recognize interactive arts alongside the wider entertainment landscape. #Emmys 141

James Cooper @jamescoopergames.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Friends at Insomniac and Marvel poured real love into Wolverine. Come the holidays, in-store shoppers browsing for gifts won't hear online noise. They'll see a great-looking game on a shelf. A reminder of what physical retail still does, and that online takes don't always follow a game into stores. 020
James Cooper @jamescoopergames.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Valve leaning on Steam's existing library of traditional games to bridge the HMD content gap is smart. Years directing immersive content made it clear to me that not forcing players to choose between flatscreen and immersive is a real win for players and platform holders alike. #SteamFrameeurogamer.net"It's absolutely our goal to expand the market" - Valve's new Steam Frame VR headset has a nifty idea for broader appealLaunching a VR headset in this economic climate? Apparently so. And Valve believes it can reinvigorate virtual reality interest with it. 000
James Cooper @jamescoopergames.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I stepped away from socials back in 2020. Coming back, I find a games industry that's changed a lot since I left - in good ways, and in hard ways. I'm looking forward to being part of the community again. 👋static.klipy.comUncharted: Nathan Drake and Sully HugALT: Uncharted: Nathan Drake and Sully Hug 3132
