Not that long since I tiredly poured cat biscuits into a cereal bowl and was *this* close to adding milk.

More than two dozen workers at three major publishing houses—HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Hachette—tell WIRED that LLMs are being used for publicity, cover art, back cover copy, and emails, as some execs push junior staff to champion the tech. Read the full story: buff.ly/p0ymGmN

She's much happier, so clearly did need the dental work.

It's sad because the actual vets and nurses themselves are so lovely, it's not them coining it.

Blimey! Yeah, I've moved to an independent vets nearby which isn't owned by private equity and has a much better reputation.

UPDATE: I did argue them (very politely) into removing that £250 which had appeared from nowhere, which is handy because the pet insurance doesn't cover cat dental apparently. I've moved to the new independent vets though, so maybe they'll forget about it. *wobbles hand*

Pleased to announce that ADHD is being overdiagnosed again according to the BBC and pathetic skidmark Wes Streeting, so now - during ADHD Awareness Month no less - it's time to give it up and just be normal. Let it go. Just turn it off and get on with things www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This is not a real person! There are THIRTY TWO books here that 'Andrew V. Smith' has shat out in the last year alone, all of which have AI-generated covers and most borrow or straight up rip off titles from other more popular (and more importantly: human) works like my own

Privatisation in a nutshell: 1) Steal from us something we own. 2) Sell us back an inferior service 3) Charge us a higher price. The pattern is the same everywhere: royal mail, water, railways, the NHS, public services, council services…

I knew we were in for a fun ride this weekend when the party kicked off its annual jamboree in Birmingham with an 88-foot, AI-generated replica of the Bayeux Tapestry. This showed, among other glorious details, one scene labelled “Here Kemi doth become leader”, as a cheerful multicultural crowd dressed in blue looks delighted and a teeny tiny Robert Jenrick cries; John Healey, with elf-ears (no idea) firing arrows at taxpayers, later seen lying on the ground (all of which may or may not be set up for a joke about “Healey’s comet”); Kemi chasing Burnham and Healey with a tank (sure); and another scene labelled “Here Kemi Expelleth the turncoat”, and the tiny Robert Jenrick running away and looking like he’s about to cry again. It’s all mad, and also a bit hazy on the role of the -th suffix in medieval English, but enjoyably so…

…just so long as you ignore the smirking Keir Starmer handing bags of money to some non-white people, or the boats of suspiciously dark skinned migrants appearing on the horizon. The worldview and political strategy reflected in those bits is, I’ll admit, rather less enjoyable.

(Oh yes, sorry, that first 'tip' should of course be 'trip'). I think in Cornwall we fit into general background swarthiness, but stand out a bit more in the Saxon East. Son takes after wife's side much more so he never gets the 'Where are you from, really?' question.
