Awesome, thanks... I'm coming from the Eduprotocols world where the philosophy is the same, just not as gamified I'm trying to gamify my entire course next year I've been slowly building the syllabus using the Xbox template

It's tough because this platform is definitely more open to teachers of various disciplines, but there isn't enough on here "x" is essentially teachers who believe a certain way (explicit instruction) & the kids aren't learning unless you follow that system to " T" It's pretty toxic tbh

The Orange Twist: How I Used AI to Make a Textbook Fun
Sometimes, teaching history means peeling back the layers. Literally. It was late in the year, and I just wanted to mix things up. We'd been hitting heavy content, and I needed something different—not easier, just... different. So I asked AI to help. We were covering the Lincoln-Douglas debates—a pivotal moment tied to the expansion of slavery and the rise of the Republican Party.

Things That Shaped Me: The Student Who Called It Like It Was
It was late in the year. We had a new textbook series, and I was opening our Civil War unit with what the book called a “geography challenge.” Blank map. Labeling instructions. A few basic questions. I passed it out like I had all year—going through the motions, hoping something would click. Then a student stood up and asked the question I hadn’t said out loud, but had been carrying with me for months:

This week in 234, we stacked a lot of learning into five days—Fast & Curious, Frayer Models, Mini Reports, Short Answer Battle Royales, and even a Netflix-themed summative. We used Thin Slides and AI tools like MagicSchool to keep thinking sharp and feedback immediate. Students worked through compromises, created empathy maps, asked hard questions, and wrapped it all up with creative final products.

Monday We came back from spring break, and I knew better than to pretend everything would pick up right where we left off. After 10 days off, kids needed a ramp—but that didn’t mean the day had to be a throwaway. I wanted to build back some content momentum while still reinforcing writing skills. So I stacked the lesson around a clear essential question and layered the tasks with a mix of retrieval, source analysis, and structured writing.

Playing around this unit with a lot of playlists/individual rotation from @catlintucker.com for Africa I'm using #eduprotocols & #emc2learning for the tasks mainly Africa geography & Africa culture for the past few days .. 11 tasks over 6 days in total, not bad for mid April

Drew Skeeler @james-1127.bsky.social · 04/04/2025
I created 6 tasks (I printed off 2 copies so it's technically 12 to prevent log jamming) Kids completing 6 tasks in 2 days with solid energy & engagement in April is awesome!! You guys combined with my Eduprotocols are life savers lol

Yeah that & deja voodoo are my fave's.... They like big picture pinpoint but I'm finding they're not retaining the info as well on it I teach 6 grade so if the facts are only 2 words long they really struggle distilling that down
