A year ago, MLR was in crisis and there were stories all over rugby media about the URC expanding to North America. 12 months on, MLR has (somewhat) stabilised under new leadership, USAR and Rugby Canada and subsidizing overseas contracts, and the URC rumours have dried up!

At first, it looks like the 2025 #MLRDraft class had a smaller impact in #MLR2026 than before. However, 5 players were picked by teams that didn't compete. Almost half of the remaining 21 draftees got game time at #MLR level and almost a quarter earned starts! #MLRStats
