Josh Allen plays like he has a bomb in his skull that will go off if he doesn’t do five outlandish things in three hours

This is a picture of Drew Brees with a mustache. I don't care what you have to say.

There are no victories here. Not even moral ones.

020

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Defense kept them in the game all first half.

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

Between drops, bad blocking and fumbles ... you can't have a talent deficit and be so mistake prone if you want to do anything but get crushed. The Titans offense is getting crushed. Defense held up for awhile despite injuries but that's over. Now they're getting crushed as well.

Can't really argue with Jason's take in the second of the two Pitch Meetings, chapter 63.

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 10/10/2026

On chapter 39 of book 4 of He Who Fights With Monsters. This is easily the best book so far. The variety and nature of events is much more interesting. A very interesting pivot.

110

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

The result of a fight with a monster-core silver ranker fight felt ... forced and inconsistent. But this is a really enjoyable book so far. Much more interesting, tbh.

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

I'm on chapter 9 and it's surprisingly good so far. I thought the adjustment would be much bigger but I remain rather intrigued.

110

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Considering this, the introduction of POVs that deal more heavily in this topic compounded my lack of interest in the final 2 hours of book 3. But I'm highly curious about what I wasn't shown, so it's on to book 4.

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

I'll also say that I just don't particularly care for representations of Gods and Astral Beings because it's, imo, nigh impossible to present them as feeling other than just powerful humans. They might be indifferent or domineering or something but humans are those things. Always falls flat for me.

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Well that's a decent twist towards the end of book 3. Can't say it hasn't been foreshadowed but I didn't expect it. I will say that I'm not particularly interested in things where Jason isn't, so there's a good bit of the last few hours of audiobook that hit me as ... blah. But overall good twist.

And now I'm rooting for a tie.

15 minutes in and... still. Canada letting US hold the ball but it's all on US half and inevitable turnovers have generated a few chances for Canada. No real chances for the USMNT. Just sloppy.

000

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

USMNT having some early trouble building out of the back. Largely contained back there. With possession. But contained.

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I don't know if it's the book itself or just me reading too much too fast or maybe me just not being in the right mood but book three has bogged me down a bit. I've avoided looking anything up on reception or opinions of specific books but I'm tempted here. I'll hold off but it's not cruising.

If Adolf Hitler did everything the same but majority owned a popular public company, it would have little to no impact on the company. It would even result in some people humanizing and lauding him. Anything for money.

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

Brian Milquetoast Callahan only went 0-4 once. He actually won a game in the first quarter of his first season with the Titans. They also won game 5 last year, so the 2026 Titans have a chance to start even worse than they ever did under that loser. But, hey, at least they got rid of seed oils!

000

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I actually skipped today's game. First time I choose to do so I'm a long while. Decided to get around to fixing the bathroom sink. That's where I'm at.

000

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

The Titans are 6-32 since firing Vrabel. Currently mired in one of the worst streaks ever. But I looked it up and the Browns had a 2-36 streak over 38 games, so it could be worse. In fact, I think they went 2-41 if you extend that period ... so ... the Titans aren't the worst ever.

I remember reading Peanuts as a kid and thinking it was exceedingly dumb. Just ... did not get it. Still love me some Charlie Brown Christmas and Great Pumpkin but the comic was odd to me. I used to read the "funnies" for Calvin and Hobbes, however, which is the GOAT and still slaps today.

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

We're in an AI arms race with China and if we lose that race then ... something ... will happen. What is that something? Nobody can articulate it for me but I'm assured it's bad. And maybe it is. But I don't understand why the implications are so feared but can't be clearly stated.

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Higher rank means something blah blah blah, whatever. These characters have experiences more diverse and challenging than the vast majority of all adventurers anywhere. And that experience is partly embedded in learning how to work as a team. It should take someone exceptional to coach them. Jmo.

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

While I'm saying something negative about a series that I'm quite enjoying, let me just say that I really enjoy the idea that they need coached up and for the most part it's really well done but I don't think an older sister is likely to have had enough experience to be the source of that knowledge.

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

... makes no sense. I have to accept it because that's the story I'm being told. But it's incongruent with the world created and I fundamentally reject, as a reader, this plotline. Fully takes me out of suspension of disbelief. Hopefully it's isolated.

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

I'm on book three now. Still enjoying and listening too much. I will say, however, the idea that the adventure society would officially feel Jason is too good and too well-liked and that it's a problem instead of being a major benefit that will help the adventure society politically in the future-

To me, it seemed the team was clearly ready to move on to a new era. Seemed a belief he was lesser than he'd been and they needed a new engine. Split was good for him and Titans might not be better with him than they've been without. Mutually fine. But it was a clear "thanks and good bye" to me.

010

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Saw it at GenCon, I think. Looks pretty good.

020

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Happy I chose to read this series. There are so many ways to take the same influences and build entirely different results. All songs share notes. Having an appreciation for how others have balanced things is something I value. Especially because this seems balanced well (chair 98, currently).

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

There's an element of cultivation mixed in with this series. Perhaps small but present, which is interesting as I had planned that in my own project. The gearing and power awakening also leans at least somewhat closer to build crafting, which is another element I want to feature.

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Really hard to go to bed when you're enjoying a book. I'm staring 5.5 hours of sleep in the face and I'm uncertain I want to go to bed. This book has really grown on me. Chapter 98 right now and still somewhat uncertain where this book ends ... or where the series will grow.

000

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Titans ... Titans ... hmm, weird. No Titans.

010

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

I think fantasy football would be better (balance and merit promoted) if managers who own a player get first right of refusal on a backup when someone is injured. If another team already rostered the backup, that's different. But if the player is a free agent, first dibs is granted.

000

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

There's probably an entire department for this problem. At least one centaur's entire job is to investigate and refer for prosecution horse sex crimes. Whoever that is, they've seen some things.

000

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

You ever think how there's probably at least a subset of centaur culture that dallies with actual horse and how the rest of centaur culture must determine how best to relate with that behavior, probably maintaining taboos or even laws against it?

100

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I agree. But, also, scrutiny appears more than warranted and, though he's an asshat, he's the one they singled out so he's the one that they have to bow down before.

000

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

The Titans are dangerously close to having to hire Jared Stillman and make him the highest paid employee, just as an apology.

120

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Cam Ward, in particular, falls very, very short. Absolute derp so far this year. There's a saying in Tropic Thunder and Cam has done where you should never go.

Jamalisms @jamalisms.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Absolute chump throw by Cam Ward.
