Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Yeah, so this was totally awesome. I wouldn't be surprised if writer Jordan Morris keeps moving up to bigger projects at Marvel, because he's great. Anyhow, I was already stoked for this based on the one shot that brought Fred and Passenger together, but this was even better than I was hoping for. 111
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Charles Soule tees up his Venom run here. Solid issue, and I'll definitely be checking out what he's got planned for Eddie's new symboite era. It's inevitable that we'd get back to that classic pairing, here's hoping that Soule has some fresh ideas in store. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Al Ewing brings the curtain down on his Venom run in satisfying fashion. Personally I wish it didn't have to end so soon, as I dug the Venom and MJ pairing. Call me crazy, but I think it's fun to throw readers a curveball. But it's over and Ewing brings it all to a close as well as one could expect. 011
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This event flew by insanely fast, but I'm not complaining. If anything kills events, it's when they lose momentum with too many issues, spread across too many months. This came out of the gate hot and wrapped up quick. The final battle is a bit anticlimactic but narratively, it makes sense. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 30/09/2026This is quite the anniversary issue, one of the best of the Spidey centennials. Main story is cause for celebration with the return of Pepe Larraz. It looks gorgeous, and Joe Kelly delivers the big reveal on Cormac Crane. Honestly, I was hoping that what we get here wasn't going to be the reveal. 110
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Great interview! I'm genuinely excited for the Midnight line. Everything I read about it makes me believe they're cooking up something legitimately cool with it. 011
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 29/09/2026One thing I actually agree with Liefeld on - the sales charts we see today are bullshit. Bleeding Cool is only eager to post them because they want the easy clicks, but these charts in the post Diamond Comics age are useless in terms of reliable information. bleedingcool.com/comics/fanbo...bleedingcool.comFanboy Rampage: Rob Liefeld, Sales Charts And Snake-Oil SalesmenFanboy Rampage: Rob Liefeld, Sales Charts And Snake-Oil Salesmen, time for everyone to dive in on this one... 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Ewing's Thor continues to be one of the best current runs in comics. Some fans may be impatient about Thor's ongoing absence, but I'm loving the journey that Ewing's put Sigurd Jarlson on, and the deliberate pace with which he's unfolding this saga. And Pasqual Ferry's art has been a perfect fit. 011
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The shorts that fill out this issue aren't much to write home about. They're varying degrees of just ok. However, the main story by Chip Zdarsky and Pete Woods is an absolute gem, well worth the cover price on its own. Laugh out loud funny, with some inspired Marvel and Muppett pairings. Loved it. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I wonder how much leeway Nick Dragotta has when it comes to pacing each issue, whether Snyder gives specific notes in his scripts as to how the story should play out page by page in regards to panel layout, or if he leaves those choices strictly up to Dragotta. I'm guessing it's Dragotta's call. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I've grown impatient with this run as the ramp up to Hulk War has started to feel interminable, so the idea of four one shots wasn't immediately appealing to me. It just felt like one more exasperating delaying tactic. However, this first one shot kicked ass and revived my interest in PKJ's Hulk. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I never hate read books, so if I'm 28 issues in on a title, I have to concede it's because I'm enjoying it. By now, I've given up on expecting this run to jump into another gear, and instead have come to appreciate the steady confidence it has. Ahmed and artist Martin Coccolo never get fancy. 110
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 24/09/2026The first issue was fine, I thought, but this one really clicked for me. Not sure what the difference was. Maybe Bryan Hill, Nico Leon, and Valentine De Landro have just quickly hit their groove, or the first issue was every bit as solid and I'm belatedly catching on. Either way, thumbs up! 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 24/09/2026This mini keeps exceeding my expectations, mostly due to writer Dan Abnett's surprising choice to have Frank and Peter working together for the most part, each trying to influence the other. It's a dynamic between them that we haven't really seen before, and Abnett nails their characterizations. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 24/09/2026A satisfying end to the first arc, which ushers in a new hero, complete with a nifty summary page that encapsulates their origin. Slott and To are doing a bang up job on this book. Looking forward to them jumping into the Big Time era next. 110
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Jeez, what a great run this is. It isn't easy to successfully introduce new characters into the already crowded X landscape, but Gail Simone keeps on doing it. Of course, when you have an artist of the caliber of Luciano Vecchio launching these characters with you, the odds of them sticking improve. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 18/09/2026A DNX tie-in that smoothly aligns with the events of DNX #1. Quentin and Cassandra Nova engage in a nasty psychic throwdown, with the ever reliable Netho Diaz on art. Even in a week where Miracleman made his Marvel debut, this issue still arguably had the coolest comic moment of the week. 010
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Nice kick off to this event, with terrific art by Federico Vincentini. It was a mistake roping the entire X line into Age of Revelation, when it was clearly MacKay's baby, so I'm glad that mistake wasn't repeated here and MacKay can tell his story without the other books being forced to participate. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Had a ton of fun with this. Relentlessly paced, humor that doesn't undermine the tension, and some of the most effective jump scares I've ever experienced. Zach Cregger continues to be one of the leading voices in horror rn. Climax might leave some cold, but I liked it. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 17/09/2026From the start, I've been liking this mini as much as the main event. Turns out it's just as critical to the Queen in Black climax as the main event itself. Fun, fast paced action from Ewing and Tom Waltz, as Cable and Tony execute their Plan B, with top tier art from Ze Carlos. 012
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 17/09/2026This penultimate issue is the best of this event yet. I love that Ewing's made this a full on Marvel melee, roping in as many characters as he can. And if, like me, you think MJ being Venom's host has been one of the coolest developments in her recent history, this issue will feel vindictative. 011
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Another outstanding issue from the MK team supreme of Jed MacKay, Devmalya Pramanik, and Rachelle Rosenberg. I love the detail of Marc constantly cracking his knuckles and stretching in preparation for kicking ass. Also love that Tigra's tail is now competing with Marc's cape for impossible length. 141
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Solid conclusion to this two parter, one that leaves some key threads open for the future. I'm still of the mind that this is a perfectly fine DD run, not a great one, but here's hoping that the next arc and the return of Lee Garbett on interiors might kick things into a higher gear. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 17/09/2026My God, the art in this! At this stage in his career, Adam Kubert doesn't need to prove anything, but I love that he's acting like he does. Scriptwise, this mini's a lot like Wolverine: Revenge in that Hickman seems to feel like his role is mostly to give a legendary artist a platform to kick ass. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 17/09/2026I was so preoccupied with the Miracleman reveal, and with the death of one long running character (that probably won't stick, given how hard it is to permanently end their ilk), that it wasn't until the second read through that its other, far more shocking, death jumped out at me. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Has the world, or Marvel fandom, at least, been clamoring for Miracleman to join the Marvel U? I'm gonna say no. I think most contemporary fans have little to no exposure to the character. I read the Moore stories in the '80s back when Eclipse Comics reprinted them but not since then. 110
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Sorry to say, this crossover isn't knocking my socks off. Nice to have Jose Luis Soares back on interiors this issue, but while Benjamin Percy's Punisher run has been a blast, his DP run has been pretty tepid and bringing them together has - so far, at least - landed both of 'em on the tepid side. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Damn, this book is good. Excellence is to be expected from Ryan North, but this series is really shaping up to be something exceptional. I expect this is going to be an evergreen trade when to comes to Doom. He has an ice cold moment here that is character defining. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Loving this run. As far as this particular issue's concerned, it's a bit exposition heavy, with Whiplash detailing his backstory, and with Joshua Williamson teeing up other developments, such as the Citizen V reveal, but it's solid stuff as usual. Carmen Carnero's art is just ridiculously good. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Michael Sta. Maria's art on this run rules. Sucks he won't be staying on with Tim Seeley when this volume ends. For now, though, they're still together and this is yet another sharp installment of this underrated X book. Seeley continues to do a bang up job of putting this crew through their paces. 010
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Fun issue! As much as I roll my eyes at the middle of the road nature of this run, there's also a comforting dependability to it. If Wolverine ever had a solo Saturday morning cartoon, I imagine it'd be a lot like this. Very square superhero fare, but always solidly told. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 10/09/2026So ends this current Strange volume. As much as some bemoan the current "10 issue curse" that afflicts many Marvel titles, I think this ran exactly as long as it needed to. I really enjoyed the story that Derek Landy told, one that took Strange out of his comfort zone, pairing him with new allies. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I don't know if Spidey's ever referred to Doctor Doom as a canned ham before, but he does it here, and for that I sincerely thank Al Ewing. Aside from that sick burn, this is an altogether wonderful expansion on Doom and Spidey's earliest encounter. Great stuff, with Ewing nailing both characters. 120
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 10/09/2026First off, thumbs up to Josemaria Casanovas for this spectacular cover, easily the coolest of any book this week. On the interiors, regular artist Gleb Melnikov is back and killing it, with G. Willow Wilson delivering a fun, and consequential, Queen in Black tie-in. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I thought BUDDY was outstanding. Ingeniously conceived, wickedly hilarious, and disturbing. What a year for horror this has been. Truly it's been an embarrassment of riches, and there's still plenty of hotly anticipated titles coming up! 001
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 07/09/2026This run just keeps on crushing it. Absolute Batman gets all the hype, but this is the one I really love. And no offense to Rafa Sandoval, who's great, but I find myself looking forward primarily to Juan Ferreyra's arcs now. He brings such an insane energy to this book. 010
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Sigh. This event is an unfortunate bump in the road for a run I've been really digging. Not into the premise, not bothering with the tie ins. As a prolonged action scene, this is issue is fine, I guess, but I'm not involved with the overarching story. 001
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 07/09/2026There wasn't too much in last week's comic stack that really blew me away, but the latest Cap was a notable exception. I wouldn't think that a Cap in Hell storyline could work so well - on the surface it seems prone to goofiness and a bad fit for a grounded character - but Zdarsky is nailing it. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 04/09/2026This really knocked my socks off. So good. Wish I could immediately watch it again. 010
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Be nice if it was something more permanent than a 5 issue mini, but I'm glad Tim Seeley isn't done with these characters. Also, I do suspect that when this concludes, another X-Force mini will be in the cards. 110
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Save for Venom, my comic stack this week has been resoundingly blah so far, so I'm grateful for a new one and done FF gem from Ryan North. He's done so many of these ingenious single issue stories that he's practically just showing off at this point, but we the readers are reaping all the benefits. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Except for the previous two parter, which I really dug, I was finding this run to be pretty lackluster. Well, it's back to being a real "so what?" book again. On the upside, I've been loving Percy's Punisher run so I'm hoping the Punisher side of this crossover will be satisfying, at least. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 03/09/2026The fact that we're 18 issues in and we're only now starting to connect the dots is why I finally got fed up and dropped this book. Getting strung along with a go nowhere narrative for almost two years now is too much. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 03/09/2026This is a fun Queen in Black tie in that presents a retelling of the initial separation of Peter and the symboite at the hands of Reed Richards, but from Venom's POV. Nice work by Al Ewing, showing how sadistic and traumatizing Reed's actions were. Turns out, Venom has some lingering resentments. 000
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I keep waiting for this book to kick into another gear and actually get interesting, but that hasn't happened yet. We're six issues in, so the novelty of this being a dramatic improvement over the previous run has expired. It's got to start being better than just ok. Not sure we're gonna get that. 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Figures that the first episode of Lanterns to made me think, "Ok, now I'm interested," is the one people seem to hate. But after two episodes that struck me as squandering the GL concept on a show that was barely indistinguishable from network cop shit, the psychological layers of ep3 worked for me. 110
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 01/09/2026This continues to be a super fun mini. Gerry Duggan seems to be winding down on his Marvel stuff, but if this is his last work for them for now, he's clearly having a blast, and Javier Garron has been the perfect artist for it. Loved seeing the characters on the last page making their return. 062
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 01/09/2026The Perfectly OK Adventures of Wolverine continue with another perfectly ok installment. I had to chuckle when I saw that in the November solicits, despite my expectations that surely Saladin Ahmed's run must be coming to an end, it's actually starting a new arc instead. Go figure! 100
Jeff Allard @jallard.bsky.social · 31/08/2026Given that Ashley Allen's been killing it on her X-Men minis recently, and that I dug Domenico Carbone's art on Moon Knight, I felt pretty confident this'd be a good read, and it totally was. This first issue is mostly spent on set up, but that's to be expected. Fun stuff, I'm in for the full mini. 010
