I want so badly to understand why the switch 2 UI looks so shitty on a 4k tv. Im guessing its just a 1080p UI that is poorly upscaled, but if that is the case, again, why?

it also highlights that this remake just doesnt need to exist. like sm64 and oot were designed around the same time. one team decided on “jump” being an input while the other decided it should happen automatically and there were reasons for that. This is worse for the sake of being new.

wrote a script that exports my godot tilemaps as large PNG chunks. I can pull these into PS as reference to draw bespoke art layers that are hard to make work with tiles. Baked shadows/lights, larger set pieces, etc.

Congrats! First and most important thing to wrap your head around is what exactly nodes and scenes are in godot. If you've ever used after effects or other keyframe animation software, godot is really similar with how layers of your project (nodes and scenes) get structured. Godspeed!

I still need to play dread! I think the back tracking in fusion was done way better than in the primes, but maybe thats just me. The environmental story-telling moments that motivate the back tracking are done soooo well. But that game being so compact is why that works.
