Do you still remember GPT-3.5?

The most exhausting thing is dealing with unsolvable problems. I'm not talking about science. That's about people who can make a problem out of nowhere.

The more parallel projects/streams you have, the less productive you become.

Monday brings #AI Don't ask to blindly optimize your code. Better ask why it could be slow and then decide how to optimize. Sometimes AI behaves like an overthinking engineer. The solution could be much easier.

Friday brings #Python Well, actually it brings Python 3.10+. By default, zip silently drops elements without a matching pair. However, starting with 3.10, you can use the strict argument to raise an exception when there’s no matching pair.

I had to split one function into two. I did that again. I asked AI to do it. It feels so lazy.

Stress kills you. Today is Wednesday. Try to relax a little while you're waiting for the weekend.

AI removed the fun from building small pet projects. When you are a father, you don't want to spend 2 hours writing the code manually if you know AI can do that in 20-30 minutes.

Monday brings #AI On Mondays I’ll share quick AI thoughts (like Python on Fridays). Today: keep context short - long chats can hurt results. To preserve key info, ask the model to condense the thread into a fresh prompt, then start a new session.

AI made weekends less fun. You can’t code a little now. You have to ship.

Friday brings #Python With defaultdict + lambda you can build a nested tree that never raises a KeyError. Isn't that cool?

With AI, there is always the feeling of "oh, that takes so much time, I would rather write it by myself," but then you think, "yeah, but that would take even more time" I think the reason is that you have to wait a lot.

The cool thing about AI is that I can bother it all day with stupid, random questions like "compare two cars in terms of ..."

BTW, I don't run Claude Code or Codex directly on my computer. I can't trust today's smart AI that much. That's why I use a Docker sandbox. You can mount the project folder there and be safer.

Friday brings #Python I hope you know about the __missing__ hook for dict subclasses. One interesting detail: it is called only by __getitem__() when a key is missing. Other operations like in or .get() do not trigger it.

Today I removed the ChatGPT and Claude apps from my Mac. Instead of them, I'm going to use the web versions. It feels safer than having updates every 5 minutes on their own behalf.

AI can reduce cognitive load when you write code. It can write many things for you. However, the more you reduce cognitive load, the less you learn and practice.

Friday brings #Python `lru_cache` keys on function args—on methods that includes `self`, so the cache can keep objects alive. Use `maxsize` to cap growth, but note it only limits entries; it doesn’t free objects immediately.
