"cathy should be irredeemably evil!!" the central theme is the moral choice to be good. the weakest part of the book was stripping that choice from cathy. giving her an ounce of humanity strengthens the story also did you watch the scenes where she murdered, cheated, and abandoned her kids??

media literacy/criticism is dead and probably has been for years, because I can't fathom how there is any sustained anger at the East of Eden adaptation it was *incredibly* text faithful, esp considering the source material is 70 years old and less-than-charitable to its female characters
