Jake Blount, A.M.! After two tiring, mind-expanding years, I got my Master’s in Musicology and Ethnomusicology from Brown University last weekend. Qualifying exams, my anthropology A.M., and the music Ph.D. remain ahead, but it's nice to have a win—largely thanks to the folks pictured here.

I, a Black folk musician, had to give the Lomaxes songwriter credits and pay the estate $1500 to use fragments of songs they did not write or personally perform on my last album. Months later, I am citing one of his recordings in a paper, and the only attribution he offers is to "Unidentified men"
