Google Maps is often bizarre. Before I tapped the 35 min route it gave the 43 min route as best, given the 35 route is shorter in time/distance, has fewer hills & doesn't involve a long stretch of Sandy Beach! Clearly the better route. Who followed the "best route" last year? To the beach (at least)

Flogged into the ground again, best a Curlew Sand & a flight only stint sp. Saw a small long -winged bird briefly twice, perhaps a WRS, but adult not the juv there. A Whooper Swan was the first I've seen in Ireland since the early 80's. Loads of waders to soft through, excellent views of most 16spp

Flogged myself into the ground today for a pair of Egyptian Geese and a Clouded Yellows, both additions to species seen in Ireland, lots of waders but nothing scarce let alone rare. Lady's Island Lake and the Southern end of Tacumshin

In Ireland for my now annual trip to the SE Corner of Ireland. Probably a more inane import than coals to Newcastle, a cooked dinner to Ireland! Tacumshin and Lady's Island tomorrow. Hoping for a find or two???

I was sea watching at the Bill in 03 when the finder of the bunting wandered over and asked "would anyone be interested in seeing a Yellow Breasted Bunting". Needless to say sea watch ended immediately.

Fine people for blocking pavements, my daughter lives in a road with houses either side, an affluent area, built when cars were fewer and smaller. It is impossible to walk down the pavement with a pushchair thanks to massive cars, compounded by "20mph is an affront to civil liberties" muppets

Visit to Kenfig today, couldn't find anything in the bushes or on the pool but above, a few Red Kite, a possible Marsh Harrier, two Sprawks and a handful of Jays. Glorious wander, one way or another

Yrs ago, twitched a bird N of Swansea, coincidentally passing there as this came up. AM I saw a bright Bonelli's, late AM in shade an aberrant dingy Wood Warb, "not the bird I saw earlier" I said to the only other birder there. Turned out there was only 1 bird, not a Bonelli's, same phenomenon tho

A concept Suella appears to have never heard of..... Nationality by Birth, a simple idea & one "patriots" all over the world are insanely proud of if it applies to them. The most factual of all the factors that can define someone as a national of that country, historical precedent for it.

That is good news, I went with a friend to Marshfield to see Yellowhammer and Corn Bunting. All the fairly local Yellowhammers that I knew of are gone.

Kerfuffle because a supermarket in Monmouthshire was selling England Football shirts during the Women's World Cup. Why are they selling these in Wales was the question?? Why would they not is a much more inclusive question??

It is almost one in 3 in Wales with the majority English born, it's like we don't exist. Even small things hide us. The WRU previously criticised for problems with inclusion used to run a campaign with the tagline 3 Million Voices raised as one. I don't think so. Another time there was a media

Currently driving back from Tenby, Helen driving, up ahead a line of Muppets in lorries are driving nose-to-tail repeatedly braking as they have no other way to alter their speed, Helen has a gap, fuckwits keep overtaking and filling gap so they can play the nose-to-tail game. Why???

St Govan's Head, very gentle breeze - highlights GN Diver (W) RT Diver (E), 3 Dabblers (W) ? Pintail, 2 Teal (E) with one of the small flocks of Scoter (E & W). A scattered small pod of occasionally breaching Commons. Albas, Linnets, Mippits landing on the tip coming in-off. Two single Jays. Quality

Nice enough trip to Goldcliff lagoons this morning, duck numbers much increased since last week. Not a single wafer smaller than a Knot. 5 Ruff amongst Black Tailed Godwits the stand out birds. Regular Clouded Yellows the other points of interest.

Who could have predicted PFI would turn out to be hyper-expensive and inept?? No doubt the private financiers made lots of money to invest elsewhere and make lots more money. It isn't just the road that goes on and on.

Here is something I don't give a shit about, Domestic Cat DNA in Scottish Wild Cats. A moronic waste of money that reinforces the importance of genetic purity and the indigenous population. I wonder what fundamentalist ideology underpins that set of beliefs??

have been a Wilson's, a Bonxies also chasing. From 9am Petrels started to drift past as the winds abated. I left at 11 just after one passed. More Arctic Skuas went by, 4 more Bonxies and a beautifully lit mid-brown Balearic. Regular pods of leaping Common Dolphins added to the spectacle

The original roads, definitely, many on the same routes as modern roads, now one of the main moans of the entitled is potholes, of course there are potholes, these roads weren't built for literally this weight of traffic both in terms of mass and volume. Bigger cars, much bigger VED

Goldcliff over the high tide, a dearth of interesting waders, hardly any small waders, I'm assuming a complete lack of food, despite water and muddy edges. It was worth going for immaculate views of close Snipe in perfectly lit by full sun and regularly sighting of Clouded Yellows

One of the ways you get blamed for other people's behaviour is when you get a nervous overtaker behind you. If they won't go, I wave them through when I see a gap. If you don't some fucker behind executes punishment pass because the nervous driver has held them up.

weren't built for cyclists and therefore begrudge their presence. Roads were built for cyclists, they weren't built for fleets of vans and buses and lorries, hordes of oversized modern cars, massive tractors. Roads built for cyclists are not devoid of safe space for them

We cycled across the top of Spain, down the West Coast of the Iberian peninsula, to Lagos on the Algarve, because cycling is so usual as a hobby, let alone as a commute, car drivers were always accepting of cyclists. One of the biggest problems cycling in the UK are Muppets who believe the roads

Where to look for the first two hours this morning, Sabs to the left of us, Sabs to the right of us, into the valley of Sabs flew the Leaches Petrels, Balearics, Arctic Skuas & Little Gulls. Then the winds dropped & it becalmed, a pulse of birds around 11 produced the same species in smaller numbers

Wilson's Petrel off Strumble, 1 of my most wanted, no tick as not good enough views to personally discount Maderian, good enough to discount Storm & Leaches. Also a close Leaches, stonking Balearics, 2 Sooties (perhaps the same bird), a number of Sabs, Arctic Skuas, 2 Dunlin. Back tomorrow

Evidence?? Some things are self-evident. When I was 17, I gave up coarse fishing, something I really enjoyed. It was obviously wrong to drag a fish out of the water whilst it was impaled on a hook, if lucky in its lip, if unlucky gut hooked. When I was older I worked with an 8th Dan judo master, a

What has GDP got to do with anything, an uncivilised measure of an abhorrent economic system. The Capitalists love capital and measure success by production and profit. The USA has the highest GDP because it has the most abhorrent economic system
