I have heard from Spanish railfans that this is one of the trains that can cross the border into France. Difficult to replace, so let hope this does not affect Renfe's international service to Lyon and Marseille... @jonworth.eu @seatsixtyone.bsky.social

There are also several buses from Northern Italy that travel to Barcelona at night, which I have used several times a year since full-train travel unfortunately requires an overnight hotel stay. Wonder if night trains might make a comeback here someday...

Hopefully we get also a better way for getting Interrail reservations. More than once I had to go to the station's ticket office to get a reservation for a train that appeared fully booked online.

Esto de @noxmobility.bsky.social me entusiasma: trenes nocturnos que, casi, parecen hoteles en movimiento. Se nota atención al detalle. Ojalá la década de 2030 cientos de trenes así surcando el continente.

It’s like getting closer to your physical limits, exploring them, and embracing the crossed-over lands in a genuine way, immersing in nature. Experiencing limitations and the minimum amount of things you need to keep going. It’s a holiday, yeah, but it feels like something different, deeper.

I'd still need more time for processing the trip, and the accelerated rythm back in Seville for sure won't help. Maybe a thread in Spanish will come at some point. But, still, what I feel in these cycletouring trips is hardly comparable to any other way of travelling. And I love it.

Of course, the will keeps being to close the gap between Castelló and Italy. This will be the volume 3 and probably even a volume 4... most likely, I don't have time to do everything in a row, but for sure will be epic!

Just had some time to check back some stats and tracks from #TLWHv2. The new map of my cycletouring rode tracks looks nicer in Spain :) A closer look here: u.osmfr.org/m/1370505

So heading back to Sevilla in high speed train (@renfeoperadora.bsky.social). Bikes allowed only if disassembled and kept in a cover bag :( Still, this S112 model train has no dedicated space for them and the large luggage area is unavailable, so it seems we have a new passenger on wheels 🙈😂 #TLWHv2

It's a very lazy day. Mostly flat, but up and downs. This volume is coming to an end following a coastline that seems to be there and not, intermittent and mixed with farmers' and fishermen's houses, filled with silence since the tourist season here is over. Now, the last kilometers inland. #TLWHv2

Had to pass through Altea without stopping, and the way to Calp was back on the N-332 in a quite high-traffic section (but the only way to get through), nice shoulder lanes overall though. Got some lunch at the supermarket and had it on picnic tables with sea view and pine shade. Luxury. #TLWHv2

It's an absolute pity that Alacant is such a car-oriented city: many tracts of the seaside promenade didn't even have a cyclelane! And traffic is by far the craziest in this trip. At least, going north, a old-train greenway appears and many beach resorts area calm everything down. #TLWHv2
Traffic signs reminding that there's no way for bikes in the promenade... ...so every cyclist is forced to use this motorway-like road following the coast. Someone in the urbanism department here is still living in the late 20th century. The greenway has some tunnels and nice views of the massive buildings of the coast, peak of Spanish 'desarrollismo', likely. View of the shore once the beach resorts take their way. Light at sunset was nice and Benidorm and its hundred towers can be well noticed from far away.

The way from Elx to Alacant was an impressive cycling highway... But the headwind make it quite unpleasant. The constant airplanes landing, flying over my head, were just a warning of what to expect in Alacant: hords of tourists. Nice spots, but not this trip vibe. So I went ahead. #TLWHv2
