Is it because I'm not a master of the game's mechanics? Am I just unlucky with RNG? Do I not know how to optimize my characters? I've managed to beat Galdera, but it's a VERY rare occasion. The reward isn't even worth it. @stormwolf731.bsky.social says the final ending was rushed. I agree.

For context, Galdera is the optional final boss in Octopath Traveler. You can be in high levels, with an optimized team build, only for him to obliterate you with an attack you weren't expecting that nukes the entire roster. Yet I see videos of people just destroying him easily. Like, what the hell?

F-Zero GX also wasn't the first game in the series I played, but it easily ranks as one of the toughest. For months, I was stuck on Chapter 7 of the story mode. But I got better and eventually completed it, while also finishing in first on all cups, including the AX cup, on Master difficulty.

Pokémon Yellow wasn't the first version of the game I played, but it was the first in which I was able to capture a Growlithe. Being able to evolve it into Arcanine, my all-time favorite, is something I will never forget. He has gotten me out of so many dire situations, so he's always on my team.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 still has a strong following to this day. The sequel to the 1994 hit, I found myself playing this game for hours both online and off, making friends, getting high scores, and even submitting my own custom levels with the Jazz Creation Station. Ah, the memories....

Star Fox 64... I remember when I needed a sleep-deprived EEG. This was the game I used to play all night. It was also the same night that I managed to get all the medals in Expert Mode. To this day, my personal record on this version is 1,501.

Mario Kart 64 was the first ever console game I owned. It was also one that I had my late grandmother try. She kept going into the hazards and had to be bailed out by Lakitu, but she never gave up. I gotta hand it to her tenacity at times.

Metroid Prime... I had Fusion first, but this was a game I heavily invested myself in. I worked hard to get 100% completion, with the Nintendo Power guide right at my side. I actually still have that book; that's how much I enjoy the game. Plus, Samus is just a badass.

Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal was the first in the series I played. I remember borrowing it from my brother-in-law, and I legit could not put it down. It also had one of the harder final boss fights I've had in my gaming career. Curse you, Dr. Nefarious!

Final Fantasy X blew me away when I got it. I was late to the party, but seeing the journey of Tidus, Yuna, and everyone else sent a chill down my spine. Was the game perfect? No, but it holds up to this day as one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

One Must Fall: 2097 is the source of my user name. There's a robot in the game called the Jaguar, and I got so good at using it that I could thrash any opponent both offline and online. Someone said that I had mastered it, and from that moment on, the name stuck.

For me, it has to be One Must Fall: 2097. It's the origin of my user name. This is the Jaguar, in its debut form on the left. The design on the right is from the sequel game OMF: Battlegrounds. Both are badass in their own right, but I like the feral design of the Battlegrounds version, myself.

I remember when this company used to be called Epic Megagames, and they created hits such as Jazz Jackrabbit, One Must Fall 2097, Epic Pinball, Jill of the Jungle... just to name a few. All of them were made without AI. Let this damn bubble POP already!
