When we've just celebrated 50 years of Songs in the Key of Life, "I Just Called To Say I Love You" sounds like dismal dreck. Blame the pinky pinky midi sound? #TOTP

Your application should not have a ‘consistent look across devices’, your application should be consistent _with the other applications on the device_.

I'm so old, I remember when software that spread into the wild and infiltrated other people's computers and did harmful things to them that the users didn't ask it to was called "malware" instead of "AI" and the people that spread it were prosecuted instead of given billions in venture capital […]

I'm not going to read his "official biography", but this invention, and associated patents, were led by a colleague and me, with the first granted before we even met Delo. It doesn't surprise me to see him overstating his contribution and diminishing that […] [Original post on social.linux.pizza]

Quote about Ben Delo from a recent article: "He was granted parents for several technologies he invented, including a software [sic] to automatically repair internet links to material that had been archived or moved, according to his official biography."

@fluffy Not dissimilar to TOS/TNG having anti-racist episodes - most notably "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" - but rarely touching LGBTQ+ issues; fumbling it in "The Host" and not being bold with the casting in "The Outcast". I guess everyone has their blindspots: I might be aware of _some_ […]

so uh. the message they were going for was ultimately a good one, at least for the time period and cultural context, and if they'd used Black stand-in actors it would have been much more powerful, IMO (and wouldn't also be super uncomfortable to watch 56 years later). Anyway chalk it up to […]

#EdFringe review **Police Cops: The Original** 3 guys put on an homage to 80s buddy action/cop comedies. Very fun, with good balance of improv riffs and scripts silliness. 4/5 🟠🟠🟠🟠⚪ www.edfringe.com/tickets/whats-on/p…

Classic action movie pose: three guys - from front to back: the silhouette of a Mexican baddy; a young rookie holding a gun; the flamboyant expert who's "too old for this shit".
