I actually think it’s pretty easy to not watch a television show created by a massive transphobe who was recently quoting Hitler.

Canadian opera singer Jamie Groote on the set of "Beta Test", STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY (2026)

Canadian opera singer Jamie Groote wearing STAR TREK BEYOND's "Natalia" prosthetic for her scene with Robert Picard in "Beta Test".

Of her experience, Groote wrote on Instagram: "...huge thanks to Dean Artists Management for making this happen and sending the hilarious text asking how I felt about prosthetics and would I be an alien? It was a resounding YES from me and what a privilege it was to get to work with SUCH a talented and iconic prosthetics team. I can't get over their dedication and endless creativity, total superstars. They deserve all the praise they are going to get and more..."

Basically every new Trek show has been better than TNG season 1 in their own first seasons. DSC, PIC, LD, SNW, SFA and of course: Prodigy. But Prodigy went fucking hard anyway.

Let Star Trek get fresh ideas in. Let it breath. Personally, I love Starfleet Academy. It's such a fresh take on Trek. Something that was never done before. Damnit Kurtzman, where is my Star Trek M*A*S*H Style frontier-medical show???

They want to feel the way they did when they were younger. That hit the nail on its head. And the sad part is: Even if Star Trek tried exactly that, they wouldn't feel the way they did back then. Because those times are gone. All good things must come to an end.

The problem with todays discourse is not that we recognize a problem and disagree on the solution. Thanks to misinformation, even the existence of the problem becomes a heated argument that completely kills any solution in its tracks. Misinformation is a threat to everyone.

I still cant believe Lariss, Rios, Narissa, etc were all done so dirty. Rios was the BEST character of the new cast. His holograms were a fantastic idea. And I'll die on the hill that Lariss and Picard had much more chemistry than Bev and JL will ever have.

Many aspects of society sadly reflect this change in mindset. Hate is what drives interaction on pages like Twitter and YouTube. Hate is what gave birth to the type of political populism we have seen rising across the western world. And it is easily exploitable by those who shouldn't have power.

010

Jaeih @jaeih.bsky.social · 18/02/2025

The problem is, that these people didn't just decide ahead of time not to like it, they don't want to like anything new. They got so used to hating and complaining, that they cant remember ever feeling different. They got used to hating and now have to continue this behavior.

The Russian government is often referred to as the Putin regime. At what point do we stop calling the US government the "Trump administration" and start calling it what it is? The Trump regime.

It is no comfort to tell someone who is struggling that others have it worse. At best, you add guilt to their worries. At worst, you invoke wider despair. A true warrior knows not to borrow trouble, and to help your comrades, not add to their burdens.

I really hope we get more Prodigy as a series... 🥲 Such a damn good show. Prodigy season 2 is the perfect example on how to use legacy characters. They were not just around for fanservice, they had their own arcs and development.

Big-budget sci fi epic where one of the principal alien characters is a puppet whose operator is clearly visible at all times. Like, it's a REALLY GOOD puppet, you can totally see where the $100 000 000 budget went, but the puppeteer is right there. You can see them. This is never acknowledged.

I always love when people put thought into naming their ships. I named my Gagarin the USS Tereshkova, after the first woman in space. I'm glad the Gagarin is one of the few ships that got a lore video via the STO/Spacedock collab

It was a real gut punch (imho) to see the Titan legacy basically being erased in favor of another more-or-less-TMP Enterprise :/ Then again, I really would have liked to either see more of the Enterprise F or the Enterprise E.

Trans people exist. You can remove the T from any site or page that you like - you can't remove them from existence. They were here long before the current attack and they'll be here long afterwards as well. Trans people exist. They're not going anywhere. And I'm standing with them.
