Long time no posting art. I’m back doing belated #swordtember prompts.

Swordtember 2026 sword designs for prompts 1 through 5: Jellyfish (where the jellyfish is the hilt/guard of a thin sword), Harvest (the hilt is a cornucopia and the blade is curved and made of brass), Wax (the hilt is a wine botle with lots of dripped wax on it and the blade is a long candle flame), Tombstone (the hilt is a fairy’s tombsone and it powers the glass blade of this sword; it also has a companion item, a colorful glass circlet with mushrooms shapes all around), Flame (the hilt is a vintage lighter and the blade is a bright blue long flame).

Opinions needed: should I make an attempt at doing a mock up version of the book cover in the booktok drawing as an extra?

Today’s #mermay theme is #booktok and all I gotta say is I’ve landed on that section of the internet sometimes and I know what y’all read okay?!

*Shows up 6 days late with a Shellbucks in hand* Hello. Yeah so I'm not gonna do all the #mermay prompts this year, just a selection of them because I have to do some ~other~ things (cool things) this month.

A punk styled mermaid blowing bubbles while resting on an inflatable donut thing in the water. The bubbles spell "Hello" above her.

the lesson to be learned here is that when you let artists and creatives cook, instead of doing everything possible to increase shareholder returns, you get creative art that becomes immortal and inspires everyone!! you will always fall short when you don't trust the artists to do what they do best

Artist propaganda I’m not falling for (and you shouldn’t either):

ARTIST PROPAGANDA I'M NOT FALLING FOR:
X Pulling
all-nighters to make art proves you’re dedicated to your craft
X True artists draw every single day
X Only make friends with fellow artists cuz they’ll get you gigs someday
X Freelancing is for artists who can't get a "real" studio job
X Drawing fanart is cringe
X Your portfolio should only have what studios want to see

Got the final character designs for the lead singer and bass player in PunkMaids done. I don't yet have a name for the shirtless hottie.

A tattooed shirtless bass player. He's muscular with dark skin, and sports dreadlocks (with the sides of the head shaven) held in a ponytail.

Lead singer of the band who is called Rook. He has red shoulder length hair, with an option for him to wear it in a punk mohawk too. He wears an all black outfit with red tennis shoes. He also has a variety of tattoos all over his body.

#mermay day 26: Memory. I used to watch The Little Mermaid on vhs (dubbed in Italian) every day when I was little. I guess that explains a lot about me.

A little girl with pigtails seen from behind as she’s sitting crosslegged on the floor. It is nightime and she is watching The Little Mermaid on vhs on an old school tv.

#mermay Day 18: Abracadabra. Of course I thought of Zatanna for this one.

#mermay Day 14: Brave. I thought of a Joan of Arc-esque idea for this one.

A silvery mermaid surrounded by an army of narwahls is leading them towards the surface to attack a ship that pollutes the water with oil leaks.

I have a theme combo today for #mermay: 11. Guard x 12. Redraw What did I redraw you ask? A drawing that’s over 30 years old made by yours truly!

A pink mermaid in a purple seahorse-drawn carriage is stopped by a blue mermaid wearing a roman style helmet; the blue mermaid is writing something on her shell-pad (presumably a speeding ticket).

It's #mermay time now. Day 8 theme is Atlantis. I was torn between the obvious choice (Kida) and evil hottie Helga, but Kida won out because I love her color scheme.

I'm actually early this time with the #mermay prompt! It's Myiazaki for day 7, and I chose to recreate the flying geese scene from Kiki'd Delivery Service, but as an underwater version :) #art #noai

A mermaid version of Kiki from the eponymous Studio Ghibli animated feature, riding her broomstick and watching at a group of stingrays making their way through the water.

The reference screenshhot, in which Kiki is human and she's flying along on her broomstick as she watches a group of wild geese soaring in formation over some green fields.

Day 6 of #mermay - Sweet Treat is the prompt. I obviously missed the previous two, and #MayTheFourth.

A colorful scene: A shirtless dude with short white hair and lots of tattoos has an ice cream cone in each hand and is handing one of them to a curvy mermaid in a wheelchair. The mermaid is bald, but has the spiky texture of a puffer fish on her head and shoulders. She wears a black latex corset and her overall color scheme is light pink with hot pink accents.

Mermay #3: Hair Not very pleased with this one, might re-do it, or try a different idea altogether. Something feels off, but the concept is there. #art #mermay

a mermaid and a punk singer, seen in closeup face to face. they are singing together with a hair spray can instead of a microphone. They both sport mohawks.

What is the scientific explanation for my linework looking better when I work in Clip Studio than in Procreate? It makes no goddamn sense. On procreate it should mimic drawing on paper more closely than CSP, where I use a 10 yo tablet (no screen). Is because of muscle memory? Habit?

Okay, here we go: #mermay prompt 2 - Cosmic. I thought about adding a little goldfish friend inside the helmet, but I feared it would look too crowded. #art

A drawing of a mermaid in space. She has a full space suit, which looks rubbery and shiny and tailored to her mermaid shape (including the tail). The color scheme is hot pink, yellow, and blue. She has a fishbowl-like helmet, which is filled with water. Her hair is a short black bob.

A drawing of a mermaid looking in a mirror, where the reflection is of herself, but as a human. In both versions of her body, she is designed based on Punk aesthetics: mohawk, black clothes, piercings.

Late as usual with my first #mermay post, but I'm here and ready to draw so many mermaids. This one is a DTIYS from ig of the official mascot of this drawing challenge (which turns 10), Melody. And I HAD TO add my PunkMaids too, because it just fits.

A group drawing of four mermaids gathered around a microphone and singing, the one in the center also plays an electric guitar. All the mermaid designs are inspired by rock or punk aesthetics.
