My first fantasy book will be published on Tuesday. I still have loose ends to tie, still made so many mistakes, and am still proud of myself. Thanks to all of the support leading up to launch. Here’s to the quiet before the storm! #booksy #author

Meet my favorite unicorn from my YA fantasy novel, Nylos in the Cache! Kavi, like all unicorns in the Cache, is non-binary. They are benevolent, friendly, optimistic, and unintentionally funny. A lot of this character was inspired by Star Trek’s Data. (Yes, I’m a Star Trek nerd.).

Attempt #1 to describe what my book is about: Magical creatures called Nylos can bond with humans, allowing humans to channel a magical power that’s unique to their bond. A scientist in this fantasy world called the Cache learns how to force a bond with a Nylo giving humans the power to choose.

I’ve stepped into indie publishing the same way I would have with traditional publishing: a bit naive. It’s been a crazy learning experience, and after I publish my second book independently, I think I may try to trad publish my next/third book! Anyone else go on a similar journey? #writersky

Today I’m feeling a little discouraged about trying to be an author. That’s my confession. That’s all. Just my dream feeling a bit more like a dream and far less like reality. Gonna let that feeling sit with me tonight.

Woke up to my first DNF for my new book from an ARC reader, and I’m grateful they gave me the time to try the book out, but also grateful that my first DNF was done with honesty and respect. I know I won’t always be so lucky. Thank you for your kindness! I’m humbled 🙏🏽💚 #booksky #indieauthor
