i looked at the diagrams in there and was like "wait that's familiar". the second screenshot is from "Engineering a Safer World", another entry on the software industry blackpill reading list! shocking: the consistent thread in the blackpill list (Deming incl) is that the West sucks at management!!
systems dynamics model of three loops, "reinvestment", "work harder" and "work smarter". reinvestment is highlighted. it consists of capability positively correlating to actual performance, which negatively correlates with performance gap, which positively correlates with pressure to do work, which correlates negatively with time spent on improvement, which positively correlates with investment in capability, which finally positively correlates with capability.feedback loops around "expected earnings from a drug". one loop is "expected earnings" negatively correlating with "pharmaceutical company's probability to recall the drug", negatively correlating with the expected earnings of the drug. the other is "expected earnings" positively correlating with "pharmaceutical company's pressures to keep the drug on the market and increase sales", which negatively correlates with "FDA's probability to recall the drug or change the label", which negatively correlates with expected earnings. there's also external pressures positively correlating with the FDA messing with the drug.

build system alignment chart with two axes: process and product. process goes from purist (sandboxed, precise dependencies), neutral (dependencies are tracked), and radical (dependencies? yolo). product goes from purist (must build a program), neutral (must orchestrate computation), to radical (must build something). lawful good: bazel, neutral good: excel, chaotic good: a kid with a bucket in a sandbox. lawful neutral: make, true neutral: zapier workflows, chaotic neutral: a project manager with a Gantt chart. Lawful evil: build.bat, neutral evil: a jupyter notebook run out-of-order, chaotic evil: bob the builder.
