Maybe, just maybe, I finally found a way to paint green skin I actually like. More experiments to come! #WH40k #MiniaturePainting #MiniPainting #ork #waaagh #orctober

Experimenting on both the skin and the axe. Not really satisfied by either, but trying out stuff is the whole point of experimenting 😉 #WH40k #MiniaturePainting #MiniPainting #ork #waaagh

Orc miniature painted with orange pieces of armor, a pale green skin, and an attempt to nmm on the axe.

Didn't manage to paint anything in almost a month, so it feel good to be able to paint another mini (despite the rough brushwork). #MiniaturePainting #Ork #Waaagh

My trip to #Eosam2026 started with a hour delay, but I am finally on my way, and have some time to read a book I had on my to-read list since a long time.

Experimenting with a monochromatic colour scheme. As first attempts go, I am quite happy. But it also shows all the skills I need to work on more. #MiniaturePainting #Blue #WH40k

Miniature of a minotaur wielding a rough mace and a gun (possibly from the "Kill Teams" game?) painted only in shades of blue. Except for one red eye.

Fining Meta, X, etc for being exploitative? Of course not!

"Skinner Out Of Touch" meme with the text: "Should we fine social media for being exploitative?" on top, and "No, it's the kids that need to be put under restrictions" on the bottom.

My very first miniature VS the very same miniature painted almost exactly one year later. I can't call myself a good painter, but at least I improved this year 😃 #MiniaturePainting (mini from #HeroQuest )

Two identical miniatures of an orc with a big hammer (from HeroQuest). The left one is very glossy and the colors are blocky. The right one is painted with more shades.

Painted my first #Bloodbowl team! It was mostly a learning curve on how to paint beards 🤣 #MiniaturePainting

Pretty happy about this cleric tortle. Especially because I think the whole idea of "volumetric highlights" finally clicked. #MiniaturePainting #Dnd

1. The true metallic colors by Vallejo are truly good. 2. The wash is super-powerful (i.e. I used too much and the whole thing is way too dark) 3. Never ever be as stupid as me and start putting down grass before the paint on the mini is dry 😓 #Warhammer #MiniaturePainting

The yellow Orconzola now has two companions: Big Boy Blue, and the greenest Green Knight. I am still absolutely terrible at both blending and basing, but I think I am slowly getting a hang about edge highlighting and gaining some brush control. #MiniaturePainting #Warhammer

One more finished model, a million new things I tried for the first time. The most notable were blending contrast paints, and the crackling on the base. Biggest mistake was not to undershade enough before applying the contrast paints. #MiniaturePainting #WH40k #Warhammer

#PhysicsFactlet Scattering VS Extinction In #Optics, the concepts of scattering and extinction are closely related. So closely related that many people tend to confuse them. 1/ 💡 ⚛️ 🧪 🎢

Coupled dipole simulation the the scattering of a Gaussian beam from a point particle.
The image is divided in two rows of three images each. The top row show the electric field (in blue and red), while the bottom row show the modulus squared of the electric field (in green), which is proportional to the intensity. The three columns show the incident field, the scattered field, and the total field.

Jacopo Bertolotti @jacopobertolotti.com · 09/03/2026

#PhysicsFactlet While electrodynamics is well understood, there aren't many scattering problems we can actually solve. A plane wave scattering from a uniform dielectric sphere is one of those few, and the solution was originally found by Gustav Mie in 1908. 1/ 💡 ⚛️ 🧪 🎢

#PhysicsFactlet A simple finite element simulation of a pulse scattering on a small (but not point-like) dielectric obstacle. The scatterer behaves approximately as a re is a very faint halo of light going everywhere, but most light gets diffracted into something similar to a Airy Disk. 1/2 💡 ⚛️ 🎢

We show that a focused input will always result in a ring of excess intensity at the same radius of the input, we give a simple but rigorous explanation of why this happens, and suggest how this might be useful in practice. 3/3

#PhysicsFactlet In its simplest form Monte-Carlo integration allows to estimate a area/volume with complicated boundaries by taking a number of samples and looking at which fraction fall inside the object of interest. 🎢🧪⚛️ #ComputationalPhysics
