Everybody in the "climate space" (which means everyone on earth...) needs to understand these mind-blowing figures. Google's "total electricity consumption jumped from 31 terawatt hours (TWh) in 2024 to 43 TWh in 2025." In ONE year. The AI corporate arms race is eating the world.

I am biased, yet I encourage you to have a look there. Congrats particularly to @alexandradia.bsky.social who wonderfully conducted this piece of work last year! This study highlights that within-session alpha modulation by EEG-neurofeedback may rely on non-specific, time-dependent mechanisms.

It was very nice to present some of our last work at #APS26BCN @psychscience.bsky.social in the compagny of great people. Check the related paper here: doi.org/10.1162/IMAG... and come say hi if you are around!

Very excited to share our new to-be-published article in @imagingneurosci.bsky.social: doi.org/10.1162/IMAG... Here, we aimed to decrease human alpha power through a neurofeedback session, yet, alpha power increased! Shedding light on the putative mechanisms and the necessity for proper controls

Non-specific increase in alpha power during a neurofeedback session targeting its downregulation
Abstract. Electroencephalographic neurofeedback is often assumed to provide volitional control over neural oscillations, with the alpha rhythm regarded as a particularly accessible target. Yet, eviden...

I am SO excited to share our new preprint, spearheaded by the brilliant @aozsu.bsky.social! We use ANNs to show that the brain might build internal models of the world by learning to distinguish imagery from perception, and that this could explain why imagination seems so vivid in children ✨

This preregistered, triple arm, single-session study tests the mechanisms underlying alpha upregulation through EEG neurofeedback. Alpha power was non-specifically increased, pointing to spontaneous repetition-related brain dynamics. @jacobmaaz.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s44...

„The only remaining way to mitigate this situation is to reduce the number of applications.“ They’ve tried nothing and are all out of ideas? Whether this is good or bad, it is unjustified. There is no impact analysis, no engagement with research on funding procedures. Government by vibes

Very happy to share not one, but two new papers from our work on EEG neurofeedback at CRPN (@univ-amu.fr/@cnrs.fr). One is out in @commspsychol.nature.com : www.nature.com/articles/s44... and the other in Psychophysiology @therealspr.bsky.social : onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...

SCORE, a collaboration of 865 researchers, is now released as three papers in Nature, six preprints, and a lot of data (cos.io/score/). SCORE examined repeatability of findings from the social-behavioral sciences and tested whether human and automated methods could predict replicability.

If you analyse time-resolved data (M/EEG, iEEG, pupillometry, force recordings…) and feel limited by cluster-based permutation tests (CBPTs); especially when trying to determine when an effect starts or ends; you may want to try our new R package: lnalborczyk.github.io/neurogam/ #rstats #brms #EEG

Providing utility functions for fitting Bayesian generalised additive multilevel models (BGAMMs) to time-resolved data (e.g., M/EEG, pupillometry, mouse-tracking, etc) and identifying clusters.
