Like, I'm reading 100 years of solitude, so it's top of mind, but so much Latin American art is honest about the horrors of humanity but also a lot of hope for what we can be, I see similar things in his stuff.

Haven't seen Digger but I totally agree. I also think there's a like... chauvinism or something do the cynical read of a lot of his art. Like, he's a Mexican director and his stuff reminds me of other latin american artists where it has a bit of a sneer at times, but very humanist.

I find these AI defenses of privatization of knowledge super bad faith. Like, this debate isn't morally about IP law. It's about whether knowledge is public or private. The AI companies explicitly want to privatize knowledge behind a pay wall. Swartz was the opposite. It's clearly different.

I generally agree with this but I do think Westworld is the clearest case of "makes the rest worse". The second season was good -- but people predicted the twist (because it was foreshadowed well and internally consistent) so they rewrote the season to make it shocking. To me, that was anti-art
