There's an important point here. It does look as though at least some of the TechBros have realised that the end is nigh... www.thenerve.news/p/frances-ha...
And I think we should all be very, very nervous about the fact that Meta is being managed today with behaviours that indicate that they don't think they're going to be around for that much longer.

Facebook is dying in the United States, it's dying in western Europe, it's very clearly in decline. If you look at their quarterly reporting, it is clear they do not think they're going to be around in five years – the rate at which they're increasing their ads.

You should always be careful about desperate people, because desperate people act in ways you don't expect. Right now we have a trillion-dollar company that is acting as if it's desperate. We should be very, very cautious and very, very mindful of what impacts that kind of action could have.

I replied to you pointing out that increasing pensions by at least the rate of inflation isn't "cutting pensions" in any real sense. Those "pension cuts" only exist in the imaginations of right wing politicians & journalists desperate for clicks, and hysterical people who believe them.

So how come proportional representation has done such a great job in countries all round the world? Even in N Ireland? And if you REALLY think FPTP has delivered anything but consistent decline in the UK since 2010, you're not even worth answering.

If you want to list examples where particular elections make systems look silly, try these: An electoral system that delivers a significant majority in Parliament to a party that got just a third of the votes cast (2024) cannot call itself democratic. It's not even reliably decisive - check 2010.

Nearly every democratic government in the world has moved away from FPTP. For countries with more than just 2 parties, it's essential. Mostly PR delivers better, but not always. If you were better at understanding your audience, you'd point out that Israel uses proportional representation.
