This is the framework I needed today, to love, to get out of bed, to fight, to be in this moment. Brilliant, necessary.

Like so many elections around the country, today is about organized money vs. organized people. I believe people will win.

it is unfathomable to some people that a person can have a good life and go "damn it'd be cool if other people also had good lives we should make that happen"

On Friday night, we walked the length of Manhattan, from Inwood Hill to Battery Park. New Yorkers deserve a Mayor they can see, hear, even yell at. The city is in the streets.

[1 of 4] While I’ve been fortunate to have significant news coverage on our Schizophrenia Bulletin paper, here’s some of the erasure & exclusion I’ve noticed in emails/articles as a first-author femme of color—erasure that's esp. jarring given the studys focus on structural racism & state violence:

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.
Graphs showing 25 years of budgets for the National Institute of Health, NASA, and the NSF. In all cases, the proposed budget for next year is far, far below any year of the previous quarter century.

Too many people around me & most [social work] institutions don't seem to get the difference between strategy & subversion vs. silence & complicity. Organizers & communities have been subverting oppressive systems since the dawn of time. But that doesn't mean they're staying silent—far from it (1/4)

"This is why we must fight for all people—whether they’ve been incarcerated or have had contact with the criminal legal system, or are merely undocumented. When you accept that some people are deserving of detention and deportation, the scope of who is eligible is always under threat of expanding."
