Hey Coop… I’d like for you to watch the new Netflix adaptation of “East of Eden” and give me your thoughts. The adaptation restructures the story a wee bit and reshapes how certain characters are portrayed. I thought it was a great limited series (7 episodes).

... but rest assured, most major events are included in the series. What is explosive is the emotionally crushing acting, esp. by Florence Pugh, who is the protagonist Cathy/Kate character... and Hoon Lee, who is the Chinese do-everything Lee. This may be the best series I've seen in 2026. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The new #Netflix adaptation of "East of Eden" is a MUST watch limited series (7 episodes). If you're familiar w/ John Steinbeck's masterpiece, you'll like this series... or you'll hate it, because after all, it *is* an adaptation. Ergo, reshaped story structure, deleted/expanded story aspects, etc.

About 5 yrs ago, my long-lasting crockpot died on me, and I decided to get an Instant Pot (6qt). I haven’t looked back since. Sometimes I think it’d be nicer have a slow cooker, but I don’t have space to store another appliance.

Strangely, as a kid, I baked a lot... and even into my 20's and 30's, but then the desire lapsed. When I was quite young, I often baked this cinnamon coffee cake which was popular w/ my family. Also, apple and pumpkin pies (e.g., this amaretto pumpkin pie), which I regularly made for Thanksgiving.

Eva Marie Saint passed away yesterday at the age of 102. She was the female star ("the sexy spy lady") of one of my favorite Hitchcock films, the classic "North By Northwest" (1959), along w/ Cary Grant. She was a very classy woman. RIP, Eva Marie.

When I was younger, it always felt good to have the reassurance of a sage (older) doctor, but I was in such good health then. Now that I’m a mid-septuagenarian, my health is a bit more complicated, though nothing that isn’t manageable.

I recently received my General Election "Official Voter Information Guide", but that's not the same as the official ballot. Also, it's the County elections officials that will mail vote-by-mail ballots to all active registered voters. Oct. 5th is when registered voters will begin receiving them.

I'm not leaving my ballot w/ the USPS... I'll drop off as early as I can at my OFFICIAL Drop Box nearby, as I've always done... and wait for my alerts via text/e-mail letting me know that my ballot has been received and counted.

... was time allocated to those who wanted to say a few words. Afterward, we had a "funeral banquet" at a restaurant, talked w/ ppl, and went home. I also "MC'd" a memorial service for a relative, meaning I greeted ppl, then had a pipeline of folks talk. Coordinated food, venue, etc. Not difficult.

I'm a mid-septuagenarian, so by now I've attended a lot of funerals, and largely planned much of my mom's funeral. No right/wrong, but think about your dad and what makes sense... could be a poem, music, special memory/story, etc. I wrote and delivered the eulogy for my mom and tried to think...

I'll get the fresh wild black cod/ sablefish at Costco (~$9/lb.) and make it following the Nobu miso marinated recipe, and it always comes out good... and at a savings from eating out. It's very easy to make too. Most of the time, I marinate and just stick it in the air fryer.

... handy just in case I have difficulty breathing. All it takes for me is being around cats for a short while. At the office, no problems b/c there were no cats. Finally had to give up the cat. My allergist said, "Either you give up the cat, or resign yourself to being a respiratory cripple."😮

Decades ago, I had had a cat for 6.5 yrs, and gradually developed severe allergies to cats. I did a battery of allergy tests, and scored 4++ on cats. Asthmatic symptoms, shortness of breath... Tried oral medications, allergy shots, etc. Finally had to give up the cat. Even today, I keep an inhaler..

I texted my daughter in Chicago… but when she got back to me, she said they were in upstate NY, “hiking and exploring”. I reminded her to stay safe, since they like climbing rocks… the 1st photo being high in the Rockies some mos. ago, and the 2nd where she is now. She said it only “looks” sketchy.😬

Because of a strange set of circumstances, this week I find myself sending about $15K to different ppl ($2-3K ea.)… and because I tend to he careful w/Zelle, I double-check before pressing SEND. But… Zelle also presents a number of warnings to prevent human error. Wonder what happened in your case?🧐
