The BBC is social glue, economic fuel, cultural and democratic sustenance. It is simply not possible to opt out of the benefits it brings to the UK and everyone in it – and that’s why it should be funded by everyone and made accessible to everyone, free at the point of use. (3/5)

At @campaignforthearts.org we will continue to monitor and advocate for arts education. We've been encouraged by the Govt's pledge to 'revitalise' it, but these deepening declines underline the need for action, including curriculum and assessment reform, specialist teachers & sustained investment.

Initial @campaignforthearts.org analysis suggests the #ScottishBudget is even better for arts and culture than the Government comms suggest. They are heralding a £34 million increase, but Arts spending will rise by £43m next year and the overall culture budget by £42m, according to Budget docs.
