Last week I did a 7-day, ~60 mile solo backpack trek through the Eastern #Sierra in #California, through parts of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. I couldn't resist all the reflection shots along the way! See my trip report and more pics here: www.mountainphotography.com/gallery/east...

I think so. It's more hands-on – you still have to hit the shutter when you see a strike. But that's kinda fun. And the hit rate is perfection; in fact at 15-30 frames a second I was getting 5-6 frames per bolt, seeing the progression of the bolt moving through the sky!

Black and white peaks from the #Haute-Alps in #France this last January. One of my favorite modes of photography is riding around on my snowboard with a telephoto lens! Double the fun. More photos from our trip here: www.mountainphotography.com/gallery/larc... #MountainPhotography #BlackAndWhite

Fog is pretty rare here in Colorado; needless to say aspens + fog = a giddy photographer.

I often think that backlit aspens look like stained glass. Or walking through a Klimt painting.

I often wonder how old a grove might be, sprouting new boles and slowing moving across a mountainside over the centuries...

Yes, that's correct! Each bole is sprout of the same tree; there can be many acres of aspens which are actually the same tree. I'm pretty sure that by mass these are the largest organisms on the planet.
