Last week, after nearly 17 years on the job, I resigned from the FBI. I saw the threat Donald Trump and Kash Patel are to American safety and security and I couldn’t stand idly by any more. See my full resignation letter below. open.substack.com/pub/fbisulli...

We’re releasing “Elektrop” on #Bandcamp, and the video will premiere on #YouTube on Thursday at 8pm We won’t be sharing on #Spotify this time (since they don’t really support artists), but you can still find the track on other #streaming platforms

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source. Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

Breadboard chaos! Finally have a working prototype for my 8-bit animation studio concept. I can draw little pictures using switches and a dial. No Arduino or CPU used, all achieved with 60s/70s era integrated circuits.
A chaotic electronic prototype. Lots of wired and integrated circuits connected on an a plastic "breadboard". 8x8 LED matrix showing a smiley face.

I answered these questions to promote my ROVR radio show quickly and without thinking, and as so often doing that unearthed unexpected truth. I think the first and last slide amount to the same thing: when we discuss how we "develop our practice", we need to think about neurodivergence!
A picture of me in an "INTERNET FRIENDS" t-shirt taking my own picture with phone in mirror, and text:

WHAT TIPS CAN YOU GIVE TO YOUNG MUSIC CURATORS AND DUS ENTERING THE FIELD, L ESPECIALLY IN AN INTERNET-DRIVEN SPACE FULL OF INFORMATION?
Ignore the big picture. Find the tiny details that obsess you and you can't let go of. Get distracted. Mess around. Take the road less traveled.
Careerists will always shoot past you up the status ladder, but they
INTERNET
miss the good stuff. If you spend time really digging into what you love, you'll find the uniqueness that will not make things easy but will eventually bring you longevity and creative sustainability.Me in a scarf and Shut Up & Dance t-shirt, plus text:

HOW DID YOU START
AS A MUSIC COLLECTOR?
"My parents had a wonderful selection of blues, folk, 60s rock and I think 'having a record collection' was something I assumed you just did...The sleeve of the record in question and the text:

WHAT WAS
ROVR
THE FIRST RECORD YOU BOUGHT?
No word of a lie, it was 'BBC Sound Effects No. 26: Sci-Fi Sound Effects' - all the weird
sci-fi
sound effects
Radiophonic
Workshop
sounds from Dr.
Who,
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Blake's 7 and so on. I was obsessed as a kid with the soundworlds of those shows,
especially
the
Hitchhikers Guide which I listened to on headphones over and over and over.
Quite an introduction to electronic sound, really - and it ended up having a lot of dance music connections. One of the sound effects is called "A Huge Ever-Growing Pulsating
• Brain That Rules From the Centre of the
Ultraworld" which of course gave The Orb a track title... I once saw Jerry Dammers from The Specials DJ playing reggae 7"s on one deck and laser zaps from the sound effects album on the other as he changed singles. and the great Frank Tope just told me that he used to use the TARDIS sound effect to open his sets in the early 90s.Me with a lizard on my chest and the text:

HOW DO YOU CREATE MIXES THAT SPAN A WIDE
RANGE OF STYLES WHILE STILL MAINTAINING
A COHESIVE CHARACTER? "ADHD. Seriously. I'm only lately
diagnosed but honestly, it's that. I have always been bored by monotony but obsessional - hyperfocused, as you would now say - on following lines of connection wherever they lead, so l ended up spending my life pattern spotting completely unimpeded by genre, scene, high-vs-low art or any other
boundaries."

I really love this, not only because the project is called Breadminster County Council’s Partnership of the Perpetual Musket, but also because the music (eg a reggae version of a Peggy Seeger song) is great.

Can you afford to release your album on vinyl? I work for a small vinyl pressing plant, our customers are mostly independent artists doing small-run pressings. My job is advising people on how it all works. Here's a short thread outlining the very basic costs of pressing and releasing an album:
