I'm J.A. Bri My current (and hopefully debut!) work is Moonlit Embers: a queer-normative, messy, and emotional fantasy abt people finding their way through horror, lust, and fun on their way to clean up a celestial mess. Currently in beta reader status, though I need more. #QueerPrompts

Definitely Eanys. Without question. She can seem foolhardy and unthinking, but sometimes shit just happens, y'know?

For the most part completely. There is a “sow and reap” theocratic villain society that has its comeuppance, and likely some assholes because there always are, but in the whole? Nobody cares. Characters and group at the center of the story are very “yeah and?” About it. Or queer themselves.

Using Imperium instead but... “Yet another… here to claim my power for your own? Begone, filth! I was once feared by the Urunayan Imperium. Those like you should crawl. But—*HE LIVES?!*” The statue moved, now only half encased in stone, twisting against the stave upon which she was impaled...

When you connect a Waymo ride with a bus route, Waymo will pay your bus fare. Which is useful for two reasons: it helps them curry favor with city governments that might otherwise be wary of self-driving rideshares, and it gives them data about where to provide more cars to replace buses later.

This month's @motherjones.com cover is astounding. Reposted with alt text:
Cover of the September-October issue of Mother Jones Magazine: a white background with the words "50 years of fearless journalism" in black print, centered above the name/logo of the magazine in large Bright Red. Below that in black, the words "the southern strategy — jim crow was dead and buried. Then came the Roberts court."

And then, framing those words, there are two sets of robes: to the left, the simple black robes of the Judicial Branch of the United States Government, as a Supreme Court Justice might wear; to the right, the white robes and hood of the KKK.

A white person's hand with cuff of business suit and shirt visible, reaches into the scene from the right, poised to grab the Klan robes.

Ea (MC) is pan, though she’s got a soft spot especially for the other MC Dwarves as a people are culturally poly and pan, though some do have narrower preferences, as can anybody, and more than one dwarf is in the story.

Moonlit Embers is primarily a 2 person POV novel with one close friend being ocassional, another being epilogue only and two villain-adjacent in prologue. The story is what determines who gets a POV, whose pers could best continue the story. Now I just gotta wait to see what betas say about it.

Who wants a sapphic power couple against a ravaging empire built on enslavement, and not just of its own deity? I did. So I wrote it. Open for beta readers. Excerpts and content notes (they're heavy): ja-bri.com #betareaders #lgbtqwriters #writesky #queerfiction #booksky #QueerWriters #QueerBookSky

He didn’t think we’d live to be 59, couldn’t imagine gay marriage or that we’d have a husband, and was often told he couldn’t be an out gay writer. He‘d be a little sad about our hair. But I live the life he fought for.

The DMCA prohibits removing copyright information from existing works. It doesn’t create a new right to have that information copied into every new work. The 9th Circuit got it right today in Doe v. Github. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

I deplore the craven cowardice of those implicated in this report. That queer, BIPOC and Chinese diaspora authors were singled out for political examination, and denied a fair chance at SFF’s best-known awards, is reprehensible. Had my first book come out a year later, I’d have been disqualified too

Credit to PBS News. This is by far one of the most accurate descriptions of what trump did. None of the sanewashing we saw with so much of the news coverage.
