They want you to check the temperature they are willing to show 🤭 It’s the same for our Midea fridge. You can only see the set temperature, not the actual temperature… it’s somehow completely useless.

I think they don’t want to because the temperature in a modern fridge with anti freeze varies by a lot during defrost cycles.

What we can learn from this: there are people who are absolutely missing a sense for subtility and sarcasm.

Sadly, as it is often the case - people who know the least about something are the loudest against it. The technology is on the one hand revolutionary on the other hand, there are far reaching negative implications as well.

I really love the play of the light on the lava/ash fields. Which I‘d be back some day, has been a long(ish) time. I think it’s hard to imagen how driving and camping in the highlands feels like when you haven’t been there.

Great, almost missed the release! Yes, it’s a widely different story than The Expanse, but I think the setting quite unique - and hugely depressing, especially in the first part.

It‘s a little bit disturbing, when you work in finance and IT… especially when thinking about adapting a very heterogeneous system- and development environment to the new normal.

Stokksnes in East #Iceland is great location to see the #aurora - we stayed close by for two nights and had great weather on one #photography #northernlights #Stunday #EastCoastKin

#Iceland Vestrahorn is one of the best easily accessible sites on the #ringroad - #northernlights can be really spectacular - we had good visibility but only medium aurora, so each frame is a longer exposure. #Iceland #BlueSkyArtShow #Photography #photography #photographersofbluesky

This is Hvitserkur - that’s white collar in Icelandic - because the bird guano makes the rock lock like one. Our host tried to thaw the pipes with a gas burner at the bright spot in the bottom left. Oh, and in the middle at the back, that’s Mars and at the horizon there is the Swartisan Glacier.

I think that was one of the most dramatic #northernlights I have seen in Iceland - not due to the aurora: The wastewater pipes had frozen in the cold. #BlueSkyArtShow #Clouds #Photography #EastCoastKin #AlphabetChallenge #WeekDforDramatic

Comic. The Three Types of Unsolved Physics Problem (First panel) Vague. PERSON [next to curved diagram] What is the nature of time in quantum gravity? Is it a background parameter, a dynamic aspect of spacetime, or an emergent phenomenon? (Second panel) Precise. PERSON 2 with short hair [device with equation below: 71Ga + νe → 71Ge + e- .] Why does the *S.A.G.E.* Gallium Neutrino Capture Experiment produce only 75% as much germanium as predicted? (Third panel) Cursed. PERSON 3 with white hat [rectangular block with hairs growing out of it labeled Zinc Whiskers] Why does some metal randomly grow hairs? It keeps causing short circuits and we have no idea what’s going on. OFF-PANEL: Is this a joke? PERSON 3: No! Please help!

It‘s entertaining and better than most of the stuff that‘s streaming. Longer episodes would have been better, maybe two episodes fused to one. If you are going to be disappointed compared to the books is not easy to answer. Maybe it’s like Foundation? A more or less different product?

But overall: keyboard mapping in this Citrix scenario is fundamentally broken and Citrix is to blame.

Jens @j-e-n-s.bsky.social · 02/06/2025
Yes, Delete from Mac is mapped in functionality as „Backspace“ in this scenario and the Windows function „Delete“ is not available. I don’t think it’s to uncommon, there might be a lot of Mac users who have to work via Citrix on Windows in absolut numbers (but might be a fraction of a percent).

Jens @j-e-n-s.bsky.social · 01/06/2025
It‘s mostly the other stuff that you do with delete… when you work from a Mac in Citrix on a Windows Server, in most apps, you can’t delete items because you don’t have a delete key… files in explorer for example.
