Decided to pull out my Wii to check out if I could still download Final Fantasy. Not only did I find out that everything on my Wii still works after having stored it for almost a decade, but yes! I am still able to download things I got from the Wii Shop Channel!

I’m liking Crisis Core Reunion way more than I thought I would. It’s got a lot of pizazz from 7 Remake, but it still has that “portable game” dna. Which I love 2000s portable gaming.

I cannot believe it’s been about two and a half months since I beat Mina the Hollower, then exclusively played Square Enix games since. In other news I really don’t like Final Fantasy 8.

So I 100% completed The Adventures of Elliot in just under 25 hours. There’s definitely a couple big gripes I have with the game, but honestly full completion on normal difficulty was very fun and satisfying. Not challenging at all on normal, but it didn’t need to be. It was simply enjoyable.

Took a break from Octopath Traveler 0 and jumped into The Adventures of Elliot. And it’s… certainly a game?? It’s not bad. But it’s not great. But it is fun. It’s fun to play, and the menus, UI, and QOL features are nice. But the game is not challenging. Dungeons and puzzles are not exciting.

It sucks the things that stick with us. I had a friend I really liked, I loved chatting and hanging out with them. They were worried about being annoying or clingy and I’m like no you’re cool, you’re fine. Then after no communication for like a year and a half they reach out again.

Hot take? A majority of tracks on an album should be 3-5 minutes. A maximum of two tracks can be 6+ minutes long. If a whole album is just a smaller collection of longer songs, it feels more like a commitment to make it through.

Octopath Traveler 0 is really good. I’ve made good progress in it but I still feel like I have a lot to go (I’m only 20 hours in). The main story quests are also REALLY good. They’re so dark & twisted, the villains are absolutely incredible. Anyway, Alexia boosting sounds like she’s gonna vomit.

Before my Final Fantasy binge, I did play the original FF7 back in February after I finished Remake. I was planning on skipping 7 this time around, going from 6 to 8. I popped 8 into my Switch and forgot that it’s a 7 and 8 double pack. That was enough to convince me to play 7 again.

I just finished 6 and realized this GIF is the end of the credits 😅 All in all 6 was a fantastic game! I still liked 5 slightly more, but I get why people love 6. The second half was definitely a “do what you want with whoever you want” which is cool but ehh? It felt a little too aimless.

I’m still getting through Final Fantasy 6, and it kept getting better but then my enjoyment kinda hit a wall. The aspect of finding all my party members again just feels tedious. Plus it gives only a slight insight into their past, and a short closure for their arc.

What games have you played through multiple times and you'll probably play through them again? Super Mario 64 Okami Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3&K, and Mania Pokemon Gens 1-3 Portal 1 and 2 Megaman Zero series Terraria Super Mario 64, Sonic, and Portal I already complete at least once a year.

It’s so weird how people think nostalgia means an old game can’t be good. Maybe people like old games because they’re, actually good? Some series I’ve only played within like the last 10 years. I loved old Zelda and Final Fantasy. I don’t like old Super Mario and Megaman.

One of my bigger gripes with music is how anniversary or deluxe editions are handled. I can’t stand when a second disc is padded out with crappy remixes or low quality live versions.

I’m so glad I finished Final Fantasy 5 before jumping back into Rebirth. The eccentric swordsman was just a random nobody to me before, but once I met Gilgamesh I was like no way. That’s the same guy. Also battle on the big bridge, top tier battle theme.

I finished Final Fantasy 5, made great progress in Rebirth, and bought 12 and Crisis Core Reunion. Regardless if X/X-2 has a physical on Switch 2 or not, I plan to have that soon too. Plus I got the 3D remakes of 3, 4, and 4 The After Years on my phone (I’m not tracking down physicals for those)

As much as I’m into Square Enix right now, I still hate game key cards. I would’ve bought Octopath Traveler 0 when it came out, but the Switch 1 version is actually noticeably inferior and more restricted than the Switch 2 version? And no upgrade path??

I was going to make a tier list just for Final Fantasy games, but then I wanted to add Octopath. Then I wanted to add Live A Live and Super Mario RPG. Then I decided screw it, every Square Enix game I’ve played and make a tier for all the ones past and future I plan on playing.

Oh hey, one year since the release of Donkey Kong Bananza. I’ll be honest. I’m not a fan of DK. I don’t like the old games and I never liked the character himself. But I LOVE Bananza. The redesign of DK is amazing, and the game is an absolute blast.

Final Fantasy 4 is finished 🎉 Only sorta gripe with it was after playing 3, I missed being able to tweak my characters throughout the game. I started 5 and already see a menu for jobs and abilities, so I’m excited to unlock those.

I think I’ve still got a ways to go in FF7 Rebirth, but I plan to find a good stopping point in the story, clean up previous side quests and collectibles and jump back into the 1-6 collection. I’m now in the second half and I hear that’s where the games start getting r e a l l y good.

For a while there’s been this cute girl that comes in where I work, and today I somehow gathered the courage(?) to ask if she might want to get lunch sometime. The answer was not yes. But growing up I had really bad social anxiety and it’s definitely way better, but I’m still proud that I asked.

You know what? GBC / GBA appreciation post. These two consoles absolutely defined so much of what I love about video games. Even a couple of the crappy licensed games, they stuck with me as good memories.
