📢 New paper in Mammalian Biology on reproductive parameters in female European wildcats (𝘍𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘴)! 🧪 🦊 The authors collected Europe-wide reproductive data of female European wildcats and investigated how environmental variables affect the reproductive parameters. doi.org/10.1007/s429...

Reproductive parameters in female European wildcats (Felis silvestris) across environmental gradients - Mammalian Biology
Our understanding of the ecological factors and species-environment interactions driving reproduction in wildlife populations is limited. Collecting reproductive data across environmental gradients…

Artificial light at night (ALAN) is a substantial, growing and largely unregulated threat to biodiversity worldwide. A Review in Nature Reviews Biodiversity examines the state of knowledge regarding the measurement, impacts and mitigation of ALAN. go.nature.com/4yglFr2 🌎🧪
This is figure 2, which shows biodiversity responses to ALAN across levels of biological organization.

🐾Reproductive season can be quite long: birth events were recorded from March - October with two reproductive peaks. 🏔️Females at higher elevation gave birth later, but elevation and latitude effects could not be disentangled. Our research improves our understanding of wildcat population dynamics!

Here's a sneak peek of what we found: 🐱 Largest litter size recorded was 6 kittens, but the survey method matters! Field observations and postmortem evaluations were the most reliable. 🌍 Average litter size was constant across Europe regardless of environmental conditions...

Thanks to international collaborative research! We collected Europe-wide reproductive data of ♀️ #EuropeanWildcats (Felis silvestris) & evaluated how environmental variables affect the reproductive parameters. 👉Our newest publication! Congrats Eva @iviei.bsky.social: doi.org/10.1007/s429...

New paper on translocation effects on lynx population viability and connectivity!🐈 Lynx translocations positively affected population viability and connectivity, but transboundary management to improve lynx populations in western & central Europe is still needed.🐾 📃 doi.org/10.1111/cobi... #lynx

Arribas et al found that limited connectivity threatens #lynx populations’ viability in central and western #Europe, but reintroduction projects may aid recovery. 😺🇪🇺 Lynx Link: 🔗https://doi.org/10.1111/cobi.70321 #conservation #science

📢New study alert on #largecarnivore #conservation! 💻We modelled the impact of translocations on #Eurasianlynx (Lynx lynx) 🐾 across western +central Europe to find: 👉Most populations will remain stable in the near future but #populationconnectivity between Eastern & Western Alps is very poor...
