A rainy day today in the #dolomites . So here are some pictures I took yesterday while having fun on the #ViaFerrata Oscar Schuster.

Didn't get a lot of pictures while #climbing in Les Écrins last week, unfortunately. The climbing was nice. I just wish the weather would have allowed for more of it.

My hotter #chili #peppers (habanero, scotch bonnet) are really enjoying the heat waves we went through. The milder Italian varieties less so.

Janja Garnbrett on Bibliographie (9b+) in Céüse. Obviously insanely hard #climbing. But even for total amateur climbers like me, the range of emotions shown here is so recognizable. Lots of anger and frustration, disappointment, some acceptance, but at the end that overwhelming joy. 🥲

Cooked up another batch of hot sauce. I used a mix of habaneros and Italian #chili peppers this time. And rice vinegar instead of apple vinegar.

A pot with the cooked ingredients, before pulping them. Pieces of habanero are still very recognisable.

Tested the post-surgery knee with a walk through the local forest. 16km, no significant pain, but I still need to work on my fitness 😅. I used to run this trail. Don't miss the running much, but I do miss moving through this calming place. #walking #heverlee #meerdaalwoud

Reassembling keycaps off the top of my head was surprisingly harder than I expected. Luckily I made a reference photo before I pulled them. 16 mistakes!

Sunday was the first time I went #climbing on actual rock since my knee operation 4 months ago. Only very easy grades (5a or lower), only toprope, but I had a blast. The weather was great, I climbed with nice people and I was really happy to be there again […] [Original post on mstdn.social]

Personal health reasons led to a bit of a chaotic start for my #chili #pepper #Plants this year. Only about half of the plants I had last year and a very uneven start. But still: better than nothing. New this year are Scotch Bonnet and Orange Habanero.

This is what the inside of a #Milka #chocolate #easter egg looks like this year. About one third of it is just air! I used to buy bags of these even though they were quite expensive. But no more. Fuck you #mondelez: this is how you lose customers.

Sadly the last set of images from my #dolomites vacation. These are from the Via Ferrata Roda di Vaèl (Rotwand). A relatively easy via ferrata delivering amazing views. As a consequence it was a bit crowded. But I can't complain as we were part of the crowd […] [Original post on mstdn.social]

The via ferrata starts at the top of Passo del Vaiolon, 400m above the trail head. A nice warmup...

The same view as before, but from the top of the Roda di Vaèl or Rotwand (2806m). The clouds are starting to move out, showing a beautiful blue sky. Beneath it, a semi-circular series of peaks and ridges tower above a hiking path.
A line of hikers is almost arriving at the top.

At the bottom, a group of hikers is using a cabled section to get up a vertical wall. At the top is a small, mostly flat, field that is overlooked by a rock tower with a window-shaped hole in it. This is the Torre Finestra and it marks the end of the via ferrata.

Some pictures from Thursday's hike to Rifugio Bolzano via the Sentiero dei Camosci, or Gamssteig. A long but beautiful day of #hiking in the #mountains. Also the first time a small group of cows charged us. Luckily they stopped at about 10m. 😅
