Sometimes I could get Jack to chase me around the house as if I were another cat he was playing with. I’d chase him and he would chase me. It didn’t happen often but when it did it was so freaking cute. It’s one of those memories that makes my heart beam with joy.

Jack knew when it was bed time. At the old apartment I would cuddle with him before I fell asleep and he looked forward to it every night. I would say “Let’s go to bed Jack!” And he’d run to the bedroom with me. If the door was closed he’d jump at it excitedly. I caught it on video once.

Jack was standoffish with most people. This is how he looked at me all the time. Eager to see me and wanting my attention in any form. He made me feel special. He was meowing at me in these pictures, asking me to come over and pet him.

He used to watch Morgan teaching the other cats tricks and then did it himself on the first go. He’d see the other cats in places he never considered going and would try them out. As a kitten he watched Dean ambush us from under the rug and then started doing it too. A little genius if you ask me.

Jack was smart. When he was a kitten and his claw got stuck in fabric I gently tugged it free for him. After watching me do that a few times I witnessed him tug his own claw free with his mouth. He carried that knowledge into the rest of his life. He could watch and learn anything, even tricks.

Jack wasn’t an avid human-food begger by any means. But there was this one time we were watching a movie and he suddenly became interested in my popcorn. I let him sniff it so he could see it wasn’t something he’d like and to my surprise he started munching on it.

If I picked Jack up he had to be held like a baby on his back or he would struggle and hate it. I would pick him up and give him little kisses on his face. Sometimes he would push my face away with his paws like a kid wanting a parent to stop embarrassing them.

Jack loved me so innocently and wholeheartedly and I did nothing in particular to illicit it other than rescue him from the SPCA. He just seemed to decide I was the best human.

I had to put Jack to sleep unexpectedly and my heart is shattered. No other cat loved me quite like he did and without him, my home is missing the love that he gave. I miss his love so much.

I know I like strategy games, sim games, and choose your own adventure style games. I like the stories in RPGS but not the gameplay itself. I think the second something becomes repetitive in an unchallenging way it loses my attention.
