We were out at @sunsetdunes.org today taking a walk with the dog. Lots of happy strollers, cyclists, dog owners enjoying the fog. At 4:30 pm there was zero traffic on the Little Great Highway or surrounding streets. Also lots of buses. Cars moving on Sunset. 4x as many in the Mission. #votenoonG

The sculptures included lifelike depictions of people. My favorite was the young woman with a crown of birds or flowers in her hair, which was featured in the gift shop. I walked back through to find it, and it turned out to be tiny: 6 or 7 inches high!

I couldn't have placed Etrusca before this show(on the coast north of Rome). They spoke a now-lost language written with Greek letters; this linen manuscript is the oldest book in Europe. Like all seafaring cultures they traded, importing myths + stories. Some pieces look Greek or Indian.

I stopped by the Legion to see the Etruscan show today. It's full of remarkably well-preserved gold, bronze, ceramic, and linen pieces from the 7th and 8th century BC, funerary pieces buried in a tomb for 2000 years. Etruscan civilization predates Rome, and some things we consider Roman is Etruscan.
