I bet this is about Universal’s Musk documentary.
Asked later what prompted the decision,

Trump said there was no single incident,

describing it instead as the result of

"cumulative stories over the past few years."

The White House did not immediately respond

are these the same CEOs that were advocating for no guardrails just last year?
In March 2025, OpenAI made a policy proposal for the Trump administration to preempt pending AI-related state laws with federal laws. Meta, Google, IBM and Andreessen Horowitz also pressured the government to adopt national rules that would rein in state laws, especially in California. At the time, the California legislature was considering several AI laws that would require insurance companies to report the use of AI when denying healthcare claims, as well as regulations that would require AI to be performance tested before making implementation on certain applications. In May 2025, House Republicans inserted into a tax and spending bill a clause banning state AI laws for 10 years, which was met with opposition from more than 100 nonprofit organizations, elected officials, public policy experts, and others. The Senate voted 99-1 to defeat the ban. In September 2025, Sen. Ted Cruz (a supporter of the AI state moratorium) said that the proposal would return for debate in Congress.

Macklemore’s comments were fairly straightforward (and can be read in full here). “To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters: Criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you,” the “Thrift Shop” rapper said at one point. “My message is for peace; love for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality.” Still, that message was met with significant backlash. A few days after the performance, the Israeli-American Council called for Macklemore to be dropped from the concert, offended that someone would use their position on a huge stage to advocate for the end of what the United Nations has determined to be a genocide.

In case anyone's forgotten: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regulat...
In January 2025, President Donald Trump revoked Biden's Executive Order 14110 (Executive Order on Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence) by issuing Executive Order 14148 (Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions), reflecting his administration's preference for deregulating AI in support of innovation over safeguarding risks.[44] He then issued Executive Order 14179 (Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence), which called for development of a national "AI Action Plan" and aimed to strengthen U.S. leadership in AI.In March 2025, OpenAI made a policy proposal for the Trump administration to preempt pending AI-related state laws with federal laws. Meta, Google, IBM and Andreessen Horowitz also pressured the government to adopt national rules that would rein in state laws, especially in California. Ted Cruz (a supporter of the AI state moratorium) said that the proposal would return for debate in Congress. In August 2025, Silicon Valley companies and investors pledged up to $200 million to two new pro-AI super PACs, Meta California (funded by Meta) and Leading the Future. According to the New York Times, the super PACs criticize politicians who are "insufficiently supportive of the push into artificial intelligence" ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. In February 2026 the nonprofit organization Public First Action, which received a $20 million donation from Anthropic, announced plans to support political candidates that support regulation of AI.

In December 2025, Trump signed Executive Order 14365, "Ensuring a National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence", which seeks to preempt state regulation. The White House published "A National Legislative Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence: Legislative Recommendations" in March 2026, a set of recommendations to Congress for federal legislation. The recommendations ask Congress to act in various ways to implement the Trump administration's strategy for artificial intelligence policy.

As the nation prepares to mark 25 years since Sept. 11, 2001, Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan, may be facing the risk of renewed scrutiny and fresh political attack.Meanwhile, El-Sayed's past references to the deadly attacks have continued to surface, including two deleted social media posts verified by CBS News that have not been previously reported. In those posts, he calls for the American public to muster the same outrage for the COVID-19 death toll that they displayed after 9/11.
In one, from April 2020, El-Sayed compared the nearly 3,000
Americans killed on Sept. 11 to the mounting COVID-19 death toll and argued for a response commensurate with the nation's post-9/11 mobilization. In another, El-Sayed wrote that because more Americans had died from COVID than in the Sept. 11 attacks, he hoped "that means we'll spend the next ten years fighting a war for public health & against poverty ... like we launched a global #WaronTerror after 9/11. We could save lives rather than take them."

Exactly why Becerra was the worst choice in the CA gov primary Look at this absolute non-stance. Look how he says absolutely nothing. Weasel words from a useless guy. I’m so mad I have to vote for people like this every fkn election. (screenshot from deadline.com/2026/08/xavi... )
Becerra did not weigh in on the merits of the state AGs' case, but said, "Having done antitrust cases, these are not easy. They're a different animal from most litigation. They are very difficult. They are very fact intensive. The law doesn't keep pace. All I know is this, in terms of what's going on in this particular case, the entertainment industry is our baby in California. We have to fight to keep it vibrant. If a merger is good, that helps that keeps it vibrant, I'm willing to say, let's take a look. If that merger undermines the ability of the industry of remaining vibrant, then I'm going to take ... a closer look as well. At the end of the day, is it good for the entertainment community in California? Does it benefit California families to have another merger occur? And then, at the end of the day, who will settle it?"

That’s not verbatim. That’s a quote you’ve edited, quite literally altering the context.
"The extent to which the older generation of Black political leadership are such a pillar, frankly, for establishment, capitalist, imperialist American power through their role as this kind of traditionalist, establishment-ist pillar of the Democratic Party, it's a big problem," Lawrence said around the 41:48 mark of the podcast. "It's a big problem for left politics in this country.

And it gets us every single time. It really defangs the white left and puts us in impossible
positions, really."
