Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Anyway, this is why people have multiple aids. And I'm glad there's a lucky solution the same as the rollator I got from my uncle before he passed. That way I can avoid the DME frequency limit and stingy and annoying prior authorization BS. 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It's mostly about the frequency and managing impact, since it's extremely difficult to build muscle on my bad leg, despite the recumbent bike and ankle weights (the latter of which I need to use more, however). 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026But buying groceries from the store 1.5 miles away, or going somewhere where the transit stop(s) are a mile away from each destination with no good way to finish the route other than walking or a wheelchair, scooter or whatever... it's kinda what I think I need. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I mean, if I'm just buying something small and light, a cane and my backpack on my own is fine. Or if I'm going to the store down the street, the rollator is fine. And I can bring the rollator for hours-long social things when I need to sit or rest. I've done that for sports events and concerts. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I'm also an only child and currently single (and grayromantic, so it's not like relationships come easy). And I don't want to burden friends or neighbors who have their own lives and worries. I want to reserve that for when I truly need the help. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I'm doing it because my parents are getting older. My dad is in his upper-mid 70s, albeit fit for his age (he gets his walk in w/ the dog). And my mom is in her late 60s, but she has not exercised other than daily living since retiring. Work was her exercise before. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026The downside is... repairs wouldn't be covered, and I don't know what sort of battery it has. It's definitely something I'm considering for airport navigation and unknown excursions, in any case. I'm going to have to read through the manual and check its condition. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I've told her I'm interested in it. I can use it in the case I'd need to do something I can't realistically do w/ just a physical aid. I *can* use my rollator for carrying things like a couple bags of groceries short distances, or to keep things flat, but not long distance. ATM, my dad helps. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026On a different #disability note from my previous thread, it turns out the electric wheelchair my aunt acquired—because the person she bought her new house from didn't want to take it with them after they sold—is right-hand controlled. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Looking forward to playing games I put off until I properly configured my setup. Hopefully I won't lose my left thumb for some time. Not sure what I'd do then. I've already lost fine motor in my middle finger for both LT and LB. I can at least flip the bird still, however. 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Some games where aim assist isn't a factor can't combine gamepad and mouse controls too. Auto-swapping is a nuisance. Overwatch flashes both types of controls every possible refresh as you use both. LT, no wait right click, no wait LT. Oof. At least WoW seems to be taking a page from FFXIV. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I'm glad I didn't have to purchase reWASD, which apparently gets flagged by most anti-cheat software anyway. It's like.. simulating WASD isn't even an advantage over smooth stick movement in the first place, and you chose to put aim assist for controllers in crossplay anyway? 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Steam Input makes accessibility for games with gaps in support a whole lot more playable. Assuming you can actually launch the game through Steam by adding it as a non-Steam game, that is. Next step is getting used to playing FPSes with the MMO mouse. My muscle memory is putting up some resistance! 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026That said, I do miss lining up outside Software Etc. to pick up preorders on street date. 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 03/10/2026If you're talking about Forever, it is also painfully 2004! 😅 110

Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I advise putting blankets down next time, Commander. 021
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Nah. Especially if the parent or guardian was doing nothing about it. 111
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 24/09/2026A lot of disabled people want to be as physical as possible. We should be afforded that! Why should coverage pay for the *most expensive* option, and least helpful in terms preventative care! ... 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I mean, an electric chair would allow me to do some things I can't easily do or do at all. But it doesn't solve the outdoor get-my-vitamin-D-while-exercising problem. Especially since my PT advised against walking for exercise. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I've tried a shoulder/messenger bag, but they don't carry enough and they fuck up my balance because the bad arm rubs against it (chafing it), and actually causes some balance issues. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Walkers don't keep all of us totally stable, because reflexively bracing with one arm isn't exactly safe (it can tip the walker). The weak leg can also become too fatigued using a cane or walker, but the good arm can still go on wheels! Using a backpack can make the weak shoulder worse. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 24/09/2026The way hemiparetic and hemiplegic people are treated is atrocious. The SSA is okay about it, because they consider simply the number of limbs, meaning both para- and hemi- people are afforded similar considerations. But on a healthcare level? WTF? 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 24/09/2026I found out my healthcare wouldn't cover a hemiplegic manual wheelchair. The only thing I can get is an electric wheelchair, which doesn't satisfy my need to exercise outside and would dip into my DME funding and make it so I have to buy all of my other DME out-of-pocket for 5 years. 100
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I listened to this the other day! It's fantastic! 010

Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 22/09/2026You know how many people mod Skyrim? You know why companies often have Story modes? Same fucking reason. It ain't Quake. It ain't an MMO. Who CARES. People with agendae are just trying to find irrelevant shit to tack onto other commentary to make their opinions seem more relevant than they are. 010
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I saw a dumbass on shit site QT another dumbass complaining about how Revelation will let people auto-level. My dude, you know how many people used GameShark? Are you not old enough to remember that Konami, the company that made CONTRA, provided official cheat codes!? Who gives a FUCK, dude. 110
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Once I can use a joystick to move, I'll at least play the sagas for story casually. Probably just Normal/LFR. I ain't got time for BS and grinding. 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I played the WoW Forever beta through about 15 levels w/ 3 different chars in Teldrassil/Darkshore, Mulgore and the blue elf zones. Got to the RFC quests on Horde. When I saw that it's XIV's PF, I bounced. Thx, but I'm good. At least controller is cool, and I hope that makes it to retail soon. ♿ 101
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 16/09/2026I remember being tasked with checking a fighting game's entire franchise's worth of videos (multiple times). We were working 7pm-7am. I could not go a shift without nearly falling asleep. And because we were a 3rd party w/ no union... only those who started when the contact was made got credits. -_- 010

Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 15/09/2026To that end... fucking finally, Rhea Seehorn! She should have also won an Emmy for her work in Better Call Saul, but I guess this is a better win seeing how it's for lead. 020
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Sorry, but if your coverage of the Emmys doesn't also have a simple list of nominees and bolded winners, your coverage sucks. 130
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I saw a guy rollerblading down the street a day ago and had some major 90s flashbacks. I used to blade all over the place to meet up with friends, teams, etc. It was my stand in for a bike until I started driving after high school. I miss it... even if I wouldn't be able to physically do it now. 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 13/09/2026I hope they make Cassidy being a cool ass geek canon. #BlizzCon2026 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Seeing the chat during QuestWatch makes me realize how much I don't miss the general WoW community. My old guildies? Yes, for sure, I miss them! But the broader WoW community can suck much of the time. "When's WoW?" "wth is this?" There's both a WC channel and a schedule! Yeeeeesh! #BlizzCon2026 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Awww maaan! I was hoping to see him play at the game I'm going to next Tuesday. :( And he doesn't get that chance to break 100 RBIs being only 2 away! 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Tuned into Blizzcon late today and am surprised to see they are playing #Daggerheart using #Overwatch as its setting. This is exactly what I was thinking for a fantasy sci-fi setting! I mean, you have Jetpack Cat, Wrecking Ball, Winston, B.O.B., etc., so it works perfectly! 031
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 13/09/2026This doesn't capture me. It seems to take only a few lessons from SWTOR, GW2, FFXIV, and WoW itself. ArenaNet has it right. Sorry, Preach, but this ain't WoW 2. 000
Steve Schulz @itssteveschulz.bsky.social · 13/09/2026"What exactly is WoW Forever?" Honestly? It seems like a company too scared to make WoW 2 properly. 100
