I will say though as someone who was too intimidated to play Dark Souls thanks to its reputation for many years, it's not that difficult! I played it through for the first time earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The key is not to play is as you think it should be from stories and vids.

I think we all know bluesky is a dying platform, which is why I created theunderscore.xyz. Not as a replacement, good god, but just a small forum with clear rules (especially around bigotry) and some nice folks having nice conversations. And also forum signatures.

my total screen time last week was 35 hours, which is higher than usual because i was off sick and scrolling more than i normally would, but even my usual screen time is far too high. so all of the time wasting apps are in the bin, because i clearly can't trust myself around them.

today's film is "tony jaa beats the shit out of everyone in bangkok"

A photo of my DVD of Ong-Bak, starring Tony Jaa. One of the review blurbs says "Makes Crouching Tiger feel like a trip to the ballet" which is definitely an eye rolling statement, but I already did a video essay complaining about reviews reductively putting games in competition with each other, so I'm not about to relitigate that here. I'm just here to watch Tony Jaa beat up a lot of people.

i then tried to watch the galaxy quest documentary on prime, because amazon gave me a 30 day free trial when i bought something for the first time in a year, but they wanted to charge me extra for no ads and i said fuck that and watched star trek 6 instead

suffering from fever/infection all week has been terrible for my general wellbeing but great for watching a bunch of films i've been meaning to get around to highlights include the holdovers (which i had not seen before and thoroughly enjoyed) and galaxy quest (which i hadn't seen for years)
