Abstract
Television shows with police protagonists portray a world where criminals are nearly always apprehended. In reality, crimes mostly go unsolved and police officers infrequently make arrests. When police are followed by reality television cameras, arrests for low-level, victimless crimes increase by nearly 20 percent. These arrests do not meaningfully improve public safety and harm their constituents’ confidence in the police. On the other hand, these shows improve non-constituent viewer attitudes towards the police. The results are consistent with “copaganda” shows inflating trust in police nationally while subjecting constituents to harsher enforcement of low-level crimes.

Another thing on the housing front is that Black suburbanization has been growing for a while now (since the 1970s) and hasn't been driven as much by gentrification. That said... I think Black people who are pushed to the outskirts of city centers likely face higher costs in accessing good jobs.

Abstract
Since 1970, the share of Black individuals living in suburbs of large cities has risen from 16% to 36%. We first show that Black suburbanization has led to major changes in neighborhoods, accounting for the majority of recent increases in both the average Black individual’s neighborhood quality and income segregation within the Black population. We then use an accounting exercise to show that changes in relative suburban amenities and housing prices explain a large share of Black suburbanization, while regional reallocation, changing educational attainment, and gentrification of Black city neighborhoods play only minor roles.

This paper by Shelley Correll and co-authors finds that moms are paid less, promoted less, and penalized for being late to work simply because they are moms. Yet, fathers either faced no penalty or benefited from being parents. 🫠

Survey research finds that mothers suffer a substantial wage penalty,
although the causal mechanism producing it remains elusive. The
authors employed a laboratory experiment to evaluate the hypoth-
esis that status-based discrimination plays an important role and an
audit study of actual employers to assess its real-world implications.
In both studies, participants evaluated application materials for a
pair of same-gender equally qualified job candidates who differed
on parental status. The laboratory experiment found that mothers
were penalized on a host of measures, including perceived compe-
tence and recommended starting salary. Men were not penalized for,
and sometimes benefited from, being a parent. The audit study
showed that actual employers discriminate against mothers, but not
against fathers
