Turns out that do say it, in the FAQ. But I also agree with you that they're hedging A LOT.
Text from the Typespace AI FAQ:

Is Jev Just A Smaller LLM?
Jev is neither small nor an LLM, hence being off the intelligence Pareto curve.

Jev’s efficiency comes from optimizing for a different task. It’s built for structured decisions inside software, with an interface and training approach designed for that purpose. It understands language, but doesn’t generate free-form text or function as a chatbot.

You're right, they're not saying "it's not an LLM". They are trying to make a distinction between Systems One models and other LLM-based systems, based on their training methodology.

I got this email from OpenAI and it's baffling. Why would I ask ChatGPT anything when I have a perfectly reliable map app that already does what I need?

The body of the email includes a suggestion. To use ChatGPT to plan out trips and routes, a thing that map apps do just fine, thank you.

Lovely. I saw a turnstone on a bayside beach on Cape Cod this month, the first one I've seen in years. The last time I got a good shot of one was Sanibel Island.

Heading in the second whale watch of the year tomorrow, which should be another good test of the new camera. Maybe I'll even get something to rival my favorite humpback shot from last year.

Having good tools won't make you a master of your craft, but having poor tools won't make it any easier. Still getting used to the R6 Mk iii, but liking what I'm getting from it so far. It's superior to the RP for capturing birds in flight.

Hey, friends! I'm looking for New England area* folks who are willing to above up their business for some observational research ride-alongs. This is something I love doing as part of service design and UX work, and I haven't done much recently. Time to get back in the saddle. * or beyond, even.

Find something else to discuss for a bit. You love kittens. You have a new hobby, went somewhere new, found love, ended a relationship, made a thing, lost a thing. I don't know what it will be, but whatever it is, please leave 'AI' Out of it. Give it a try. I think we'll all be better off.

I am proposing the "don't talk or write about 'AI' challenge". The amount of discourse on this topic is exhausting. You love it, you hate it, it's going to change everything, it's just a tool, you use it for this thing, you'd never use it for that thing. Great. I don't need to hear about it.

I printed this bracket with tree supports and variable layer heights in about six hours and got a very good print. Before that, I ran off a 1 hour prototype with no supports. Given the deep overhang and six inch bridge, I am amazed it printed at all, let alone with a semi-usable result!
