i'm happy that i'm making music now but it took until i was 20 to start lol. i know that a lot of people make a big deal of "it's never too late to start" but i wonder how much more i could have done if i had started when i was growing up

it's an exaggeration to say that i wasted 15 years of my life because that's obviously untrue, but when i look at all of the time i had when i was younger, it's hard not to feel like there was so much more i could have done during the most formative years of my life

but it never happens. i never learned how to 3d model or mod the game at all. and in a lot of ways, i look at those 15 years of time passing and feel like i haven't made much progress at all towards my dreams

it's 15 years later and i just played a mario 64 rom hack. it's my second one this month. i've played quite a few over the years, and every time it sparks this little brief glimmer of inspiration to follow those dreams i had. i still have them. i still think of levels and ideas and draw up maps

when i was 11, 15 years ago, i remember wanting very badly to make a full mario 64 rom hack. i drew up maps and plans for this big grand thing i wanted to create, and never actually got around to learning how to 3d model or actually interface with the game

for the record i do think i have a decent background in designing and creative works, i just don't trust myself in an environment where i'm expected to complete stuff in a timely manner because i am constantly so afraid of being bad at my job that with my adhd and energy problems i just fall apart

truly the worst thing about ableton is the fact that if any clip doesn't have envelope automation on it it will just use whatever value it read last on the channel. want to put a pitch bend at the end of your song? fuck you now the entire instrument is 2 semitones off until it gets back to that clip
