I used to be a huge gamer in the 90s and 00s. Had nearly every system and tons of games. Final Fantasy was my main jam. When it went online with FFXIV, I didn't follow, so I found other uses of my time and fell out of gaming altogether. I don't know if anything could get me back into it now.

The coop I run split the difference -- thermometers and data loggers connected to the internet so we can get alarms, check temperatures remotely, and see past data, but offline controls you have to physically interact with to change.

I grew up when gay sex was a crime. Police used to raid the bars and hotels and set up stings on the internet, but you could still at least survive in the closet. If it had been illegal to pretend to be celebate, I don't think I would have survived.

The actual text of the law is "Les pratiques lesbiennes, gays, bisexuelles, transgenre, queers, intersexes, asexuelles (LGBTQIA+) ou tout autre comportement contre nature sont bannis." Not only does this harm our asexual comrades, but it bans being closeted and requires heterosexual performance.

People can be pushed so far that the consequences no longer matter, but most widows of old did not enjoy good lives once free of their husbands unless they had family to support them. I'm betting many more suffered through marriage to avoid being homeless and destitute.

Overalls come in every possible size and are easy to alter. 27" inseam with a 54" waist? Overalls got you covered. Are they cut for women? Throw on some patches to masc them up. Are they cut for men? Throw on some pins to femme them up. Overalls literally saved my life.

If they take away women's right to vote, own property, and contract, what are they to do? Widows used to move to the mountains or out west where the laws couldn't reach them and squat on public property, but there aren't many places you could get away with that nowadays.

I'm not allowed to read to my kid. I am to sit, hold him, and observe him as he searches the book for numbers. If I try to read, he puts his hand on my mouth. I think you're looking at it through a lens of what currently is. The key to my statement is "socially acceptable". The men to which you are referring do not exist in that reality, so you can't really reliably say how they would behave in it. I believe such a reality would be unrecognizable to us.

Digging past environmental and economic concerns, I just don't like it. Nothing made by or with AI is impressive to me, and I miss being impressed. It's a joy sucker, to me, and I don't appreciate it being everywhere and in everything. At least with crypto, it didn't come up a lot in my day-to-day.

If a democratic candidate gets in while spewing anti-trans rhetoric, it will be left up to trans people to fight for trans right while everyone else sits back and relaxes. If a Republican candidate wins, everyone will be fighting them from different directions. I prefer that.
