Isak Glaser @isakglaser.bsky.social · 06/10/2026The Renly plot in ACOK is also cribbed from Conan's "Hour of the Dragon", where the 'King is attacked by mysterious shadow the dawn before a big battle' is immediately followed by 'follower dresses up in his armour and leads his army as him' Unrelated to your point but I've not seen anyone saying it 030
Isak Glaser @isakglaser.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Stannis storyline in general is a series of divine punishment for injust actions, BUT this is obscured somewhat for the reader by how Martin manages to infuse new blood and reengender reader sympathies for Stannis again and again to keep him relevant for the wider plot purposes 110
Isak Glaser @isakglaser.bsky.social · 06/10/2026People do defend this guy by saying that this IS the vibe NOI-members in the drugtrade gave off, but I'm sceptical. TBF Omar is also a mythical hero essentially, grafted on; he works better though because he's one added flavour, stands out in contrast 020
Isak Glaser @isakglaser.bsky.social · 05/10/2026My impression is also that the genetic split far predates the landbridge so maybe there just wasn't too much contact anyway, but ofc that stuff always feels like it's up in the air, constantly getting rerevised Anyway, thanks! 000
