What does a life transition lens + data = ? Intersecting Liminality! Our new #TACCESS paper introduces this model for revealing tensions when people navigate multiple concurrent life transitions while adopting assistive tech. We also reflect on what this can do for design #AccessibleComputing #HCI

Where are the disabled students in #CSEducation research? 🔍 In our lit review at #SIGCSE2026, < 50% of papers on accessibility had disabled participants. 🤝 Our aim: Let's shift from research/design 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭/𝐟𝐨𝐫 → 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 disabled students. 📄 Read our paper for more! #Accessibility #InclusiveEducation

It's that time of year again... time for #DisabledInSTEM 2026 Mentorship applications! I'm so excited to be running this program for the sixth year and seeing the growth over the years! Mentee form: forms.gle/um5DvYnBi3tn... Mentor form: forms.gle/BvaxnQm8uhUR... Applications due December 5th!
Promotional graphic for the DisabledInSTEM 2026 Mentorship Program. The background is a dark blue gradient with flowing wave-like patterns in blue and gold. At the top, white text reads: “DisabledInSTEM 2026 Mentorship Applications Now Open.” Below, a yellow box with black text says: “Seeking Disabled Mentees and Dedicated Mentors to Champion Inclusion in STEM.” At the bottom, white text states: “Applications due December 5th.” In the lower right corner, there is the DisabledInSTEM logo.

Getting into the giving spirit? Help us save our high school outreach program and empower 100s of disabled youth to go to college in #STEM. zotfunder.give.uci.edu Even $5 helps! "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." -Helen Keller #Disability #academicSky #helpSky #signalBoost
Help us support students with disabilities in STEM! For the past 2 years, AccessUCI has empowered disabled students to pursue STEM through workshops, scholarships, and mentorships. However, in 2025, our federal funding was terminated. Our work is too important to give up—let’s keep the doors open for the next generation. Visit tinyurl.com/accessUCI to make a donation (or screenshot this page to scan the QR code).

Today I volunteered at California School for the Blind's Day of Code! It was awesome to support the staff and learn how to teach blind students computational thinking using accessible methods. We hope to co-host one next year in So Cal! Check them out: www.csb-cde.ca.gov/about/events...

The President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, PPFP, has been a jewel in the crown for faculty development and recruitment at the University of California for years and the results have been an expanded faculty with almost 100% tenure rates — unprecedented success.

You never know what a small #HCI research project might grow into. Interviews with blind older adults about smartphones for a disability org webinar turned into a #DIS2023 poster 🖼️, Smartphone Stories, and later a theory paper 📄, Intersecting Liminality, at #ASSETS2024! 📄 bit.ly/inter-liminality

Hi! I'm an Informatics PhD student at UC Irvine! My research is about accessibility, HCI, and CS Ed, and I'm interested in tech use during life transition. Currently, my work is focused on supporting blind students in accessing their STEM studies during the high school to college transition.

Learning to use a smartphone as a blind person isn’t just tech adoption. It’s a life transition. In our #ASSETS2024 paper, Intersecting Liminality, we explored how processes of aging, vision loss, and technology learning overlap. 📄 dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/... #InclusiveTech #Accessibility #HCI
