On the passing of Jim Irsay

The faculty and staff at the Irsay Institute are deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Irsay. Mr. Irsay had many passions — including football, music, and, above all, his daughters — but his passion for reducing stigma around addiction and mental illness is the reason the Irsay Institute exists. Jim Irsay understood that the stigma surrounding addiction and mental illness costs lives, and that human suffering could be reduced by eliminating barriers to admitting struggles and seeking help. At the Irsay Institute, we are grateful for his support and vision, and we remain committed to his mission. We will keep up the fight by leading research in understanding and reducing stigma and helping people get the help they need.

We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Irsay’s family, particularly his three daughters, who continue his legacy of leadership in business and philanthropy.
