I’m watching 70 Up on SBS. It’s the final episode in 2 parts. I am the same age as all these people and watching them as they grew up then grew old is like a mirror of my life.

Yeah I gave up because I had a cold that resulted in acute bronchitis. Struggling to breathe is a big incentive. Sadly most people don't see the health impacts until they are chronic or catastrophic.

We're in this mess because of organised crime. It was probably foreseeable but governments did nothing to prevent it & even then haven't responded to the issue apart from QLD. Public health experts have "groupthink" (consensus) on many issues because they are based on research & clinical data.

The best long term solution is the one proposed by public health experts. That is to restrict licenses to sell tobacco to supermarkets and service stations. In my suburb there were no tobacconists, now there are 4. One is a convenience store right next to Coles! #shuttheshops
