Why is it that whenever people talk about the greatest villains in cinema, no one brings up one who features proeminently in my top 3, and of course I'm talking about Feathers McGraw here

I don't think they would have resisted the One Ring but like. If they were in Eregion Sauron would be out in two hours tops

Rochester this, Rochester that, at least Rochester is aware he's kinda terrible. St. John Rivers though? He SUUUUUUUUCKS, and he's exactly the type you can't call out unless you come armed with a metal chair and that still wouldn't bust out the stick up his butt

Look, as someone who'd love a rock opera based on the Ainulindalë that would definitely make Tolkien spin in his grave, I just... don't think Narnia is the kind of story you want for that kind of take. And don't get me wrong, I have ZERO interest in engaging in any kind of culture war about this lol

Can't wait for that one scene in RoP where Tom Bombadil is dusting the firemantle and there's a picture of Goldberry on it. And then we do a double take and go "wait a minute is that Dolly Parton--"

*sigh* Alright. So you've been throwing a temper tantrum for weeks now, in a way that goes way beyond "this story is not going where I want it to go", and yes I can tell the difference because I've been in fandoms long enough. I was there for the release of The Rise of Skywalker, Gandalf. [1]

I'll be that person, but I think the reason why the YouTube trailer for RoP s3 doesn't have a lot of views is twofold - first off, they're not pushing for it in the algorithm (it's nothing new, most big film/TV companies pay for their content to be pushed on the front page). (cont')

I'm at a point where I think that the best way to avoid all the "rule of thumb" discourse about diversity in media should be asking yourself the very basic question of "what is this trying to say, exactly" (great antidote to anti-intellectualism too, actually!) 🧵
